It's the english arrogance. Their talents would rather rot away on the bench or in their clubs B teams because it's more prestigous than going to some "no-name" club in Europe. Then they get loaned out to some lower league shit club, fade away into obscurity and retire from football at age 26.

What it could be like, if english talents had a different mindset, you only have to look at Gnabry. He's german but he played for Arsenal B, moves to Bremen and becomes a key player for them.

it's because they get paid too much, in the portuguese league you don't even make decent money unless you play for the big 3 the players in the bottom clubs make less than min wage in most western european countries, meanwhile in england if you're english and show a bit of potential you immediatly get hit with a millionair contract and you don't have more motivation to improve anymore, even if you play in a 2nd division club you probably still make more than you would playing in a mid table la liga or bundesliga club, plus you can stay in your comfort zone and not have to learn a few words in another language

The EPL is too physically demanding. If you have too many EPL players your country will do badly on the international stage. See England, Belgium...
