can someone explain to me, why diving is accepted in soccer by both fans and the associations? It's not an accident, it's an intentional attempt at cheating and could affect not only the current game but also the entire carreer of the guy they do it to (if done well). An athlete should be banned from the sport for life for diving even once...

>mfw people argue that video referees would hurt the flow of the game
because surrounding the referee while someone rolls around on the ground waiting to be stretchered off only to come sprinting back on three seconds later doesn't do that already

>implying complaining to referee is not part of the game

It's mainly Spanish-speaking people that accept diving. It's seen as a disgrace in England, which is why the refereeing is generally more relaxed here.
>>
Certified ref here.

It's not the players fault. They're just acting in their team's best interest. Refs need to be more willing to caution for diving. Also, because of the nature of diving, it's often difficult to discern an actual foul from a dive. Therefore, more discipline needs to be handed out after the fact. Soccer is much more hesitant to discipline after a match, unlike American sports. In fact, it's more likely that they rescind a booking after a game rather than add one.

It's the officials, not the players.

THE REFEREES A WANKER
SHOULDVE GONE TO SPECSAVERS LA
>>
>>74659342
because policing it is hard and impossible to do with consistency. also, its the same reason why people dont want replays for every offence or video refs because wouldnt really change anything in the big picture and all teams are affected the same way.

>enforcing the rules won't change anything

This is why diving is a thing. Euros are fucking retarded.

Give me one reason a Romanian has more authority on the sport than an American? Because you're in proximity to nations that are actually good at the sport? Compare our WC resumes please, and get back to me.

it's culture, stop trying to understand because you wont. Romania however gets it, just for the fact of being european.

the fact that you dont know pretty much sums up your lack of knowledge on the subject. id take any countrys opinion on sawker more seriously than any american that ever existed or will ever exist. stick to your shitty insular sports

We always get refballed by opponent diving

Stop blaming us for diving

Also, in the last WC the most famous diving was made by white Europeans against Mexicans. Stop being racist
>>
Ever since the Klinsmann dive in 1990 to win the world cup, players have noticed it's a way to victory and use it to draw fouls.

If you're a ref, you should be certified for being so ignorant. Yes, the officials should take some of the blame for being too inefficient and spineless to get the decision right but, primarily, the blame lies with the players who cheat and those who coach them to cheat.

>because policing it is hard
So improve the quality of referreeing. At the moment, globally, it's bollocks.
> impossible to do with consistency
So bring in video refs and hugely improve the consistency, the way it has in other sports.
> people dont want replays for every offence
Video refs wouldn't give you that; they'd just be used (if FIFA have an ounce of sense) for game-changing decisions.
>wouldnt really change anything
Except for halving the cheating, doubling the skill level, making decisions fairer and making the game flow better.

It's not culture, it's cheating. And, because everybody does it, it's pointless.

It's easy fixed. Give players the yellow card after the game if the referee missed any dives they did. Watch those suspensions pile up.

As the most popular sport in the world, football has been progressively feminized to be a sport "for everyone". It was way too dangerous for women and manlets, that's why referees were pushed to "protect" the players more and more, resulting in a mess: Every slightest touch allows a player to go down because of a "foul", there is no room for interpretation left for the refs what's a dive and what's an actual foul.
