Can someone here spoonfeed an american who doesn't know shit about soccer?

How was this a great comeback when they beat the opposing team by 5 goals?
>>
>soccer
>>
I understand the aggregate thing, but where does this rank among GS blowing a 3-1 or 28-3?
>>
>>74578663
It wasn´t great at all. It was plain and simple refball.
>>
>>74578670
3-28 was a 3 Score game, Barcelona were down by 4 and getting that tied it, not won, then because PSG scored they had to get another score

Barca lost the first of 2 games by 4-0. So in the second leg they had to win 4-0 to tie it or more to win it. But when psg scored a goal and made it 3-1 on barcas turf, that changed things. And since barca didn't score a goal in Paris, they had to score 3 more goals in 30 minutes. And they did it with the last kick of the game. That's it basically.
>>
>>74578663
they had to win by 5 in order to advance because they lost by 4 in the previous game

>>74578670
it's way harder to come back as Barca did, but not as meme as GS losing because this was not the final and PSG is a meme team that never should've been up by 4 to begin with while GS was coming off the best regular season ever

I thought in soccer you could "park the bus" and make it really hard for the other team to score. Why didn't they just do that?
>>
>>74578857
Because you can't do that against a very high quality attack. "Park the bus" is a term that only applies to the EPL where there are no super teams like Barça
>>
>>74578857
They did, and that's actually what killed them.

Imagine Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers tearing up a team in prevent defense with accurate short and medium passing. That's exactly what Barcelona did.
>>
>>74578857
>I thought in soccer you could "park the bus" and make it really hard for the other team to score.

you can do that in the "english" "premier" "league" where the teams are made up of paceniggers whose only ability is to outrun the opposition, but not against actual world class teams like Barcelona

What game did you people watch?
Neymar started of with an absolutely insane freekick. That was just individual skill and a stupid foul.
PSG continued to instantly give every ball away, defend way too deep and foul way to close to the box. Stupid defending on the penalty. While it was half a dive there was a contact and a fucking gift to the ratman. PSG continued to huddle in the centre of the penalty area like some flock of frightened sheep and got their punishment.
This wasn't some miracle performance by barcelona except maybe neymar, PSG just completely threw the game.
>>
>>74579070
How is he still not banned from playing? I mean yes, the ref can make bad calls, but after the game all the diving, biting and shit can be reviewed and punished.
>>
>>74579081
>Insane free kick
Come on buddy let's be honest the keeper was absolutely retarded in that free kick
>>
>>74578663

imagine that NFL playoffs were played in 2 legs instead of just one game. Barcelona lost the first one 47-0, so they need a wider win on the second leg, but with 5 minutes to go they are like 24-1, and they throw a hail mary to win the whole thing.

I watched the game, it wasn't a refball at all. PSG played very very nasty, no fairplay, lots of faults. I admit that Suarez and Neymar tried to get penaltys kicks, but hey, PSG played exactly the same.
On the first penalty, there is an obvious intention from Meunier to obstruct Neymar's way, Meunier know it very well ( + he was too late to get the ball and decided to dive ) and he used his whole fucking body to do it, the refere didn't get tricked, so 1st penalty is totally right.
On the 2nd penalty, Marquinhos didn't seek to play the ball but was focused on how he will grab Suarez : arm around suarez's shoulder-neck, and then a hip movement to make destabilize suarez.
Best game this year so far ( with monaco-man.city ), referees were really good, almost too much coz they let the game go physical. And yes, fuck those PSG clowns

what you just described is literally impossible. not only is 23 points or more in 5 minutes so unbelievable rare it's stupid, but you can't score just one point.

Teams like Barca Real Bayern etc can rip defences to shit.Especially when the opponent is already cowering because they conceded a goal every 13 mins or so
>>
>>74578857
PSG's game is based on attack, they chose to defend and they aren't good enough defensively to invite such pressure against players of this quality.
>>
>>74578857

'parking the bus' is a sophisticated art that few teams have mastered. If your not one of them and you try this, and give the ball away to a top attacking team for 90 mins, you are in for a buttfuck.

its way greater, because 3-1 in basetball or 28-3 in nfl are understandable(in history context and in context of rules and common game flow), while 4-0 to 6-1 are like... 5-1 in basketbbal or 39-3 in nfl maybe

I'll try make this easy to follow for burgers who are confused:

In the premier European tournament, which is called the Champions League, teams are drawn against each other in a knockout format and have to play each other twice, so that both teams get to have home advantage once. Paris Saint Germain were drawn against Barcelona, and were pretty widely expected to lose. The first game, in Paris, ended PSG 4 Barcelona 0, which in itself was an unbelievable result given how good Barcelona have been for many years. The score gets carried into the second game (played last night), which was in Barcelona's stadium.

So as Barcelona were 4-0 down going into last night, they had a mountain to climb. What made matters worse for them is that they failed to score a goal in that Paris game, which is significant because when you score at your opponent's stadium (known as an away goal) it is extra valuable. If the overall score after both games are finished is tied, the team who scored the most away goals wins.

Going back to last night, Barcelona had to recover a 4 goal deficit, knowing that if PSG scored even one goal, Barcelona would need to then score 6 to advance. This is because even if Barcelona won 5-1 last night, making the overall score between both games 5-5, PSG would advance because they scored an away goal but Barcelona did not. In the game, Barcelona went 3-0 up, making the overall score 4-3 to PSG and starting to cause the doubters to believe they could pull off the comeback, but then PSG scored to make it 3-1 on the night and 5-3 overall. Barcelona were left needing to score 3 more in order to make it 6-5 to them on aggregate, but with only two minutes left this seemed absolutely impossible. The Barcelona players looked to have given up, really. But then out of the blue they got one, a couple of minutes later a second, and with practically the final kick of the entire match they somehow did the unthinkable and won it.

That's how 6-1 was a comeback.

why you guys care so much about explaining it to americans
>>
>>74579426
This exactly. PSG can't park the bus, especially against some of the best players in the world. They should have played with the same intensity as the first leg.
>>
>>74578663
Two games (one in each of the teams' cities) are being played over 90 minutes each

The most important thing is the aggregate score after both games are over.

But if the aggregate score is a tie, then the scored away goals (goals your team scored in the opponent's stadium) are the next deciding factor.

If the scored away goals are also a tie, then the second game gets extended for 30 minutes.

If it's still a tie afterwards, the game will get finally decided with a penalty shootout.
