Is there a professional league with more bad teams than the NBA? Seriously what the hell is going on with this league?

In the eastern conference you literally have 1 team that has a realistic shot at winning the title and that's the Cleveland Cavaliers. No joke an entire conference and only 1 team in it actually has a chance.

And in the west you have about 3 teams that can compete for the title, realistically though it's probably only two teams.

So are there any other pro leagues that are this bad??

The kings are the worst franchise in the nba.
>>
>>74415295
no the Knicks are, by a longshot
they are the richest team and have nothing to show for it, except chaos, dysfunction, the most vicious journalism market in the country, and some of the most jaded fans
>>
>>74415007
Literally 95% of soccer leagues around the world are exactly like this every single year.
>>
>>74415301
99 if you count lower leagues too lol
>>
>>74415301
This, but they have an excuse. No draft to bail the shit teams out. What's the NBA's excuse?
>>
>NBA has salary cap
>MLB has no salary cap
>MLB has a million times more parity than NBA

How did this happen senpaitachi?
>>

baseball is inherently more luckbased than basketball, it's why basketball has always had dynasties and it's so rare in other sports

there's only 5 players on the floor at a given time, the best players can play almost or fully the entire game and have more influence over the outcome

you can argue whether or not that's a good thing, but it's true
>>
Basketball has the least amount of parity because unlike baseball, football, and hockey, the better team wins 99 percent of the time in a 7 game series.

In baseball a team can get into the wild card and whip everyone's ass. Same thing in footbal, although the past couple years the best teams have made it to at last the conference finals.

In basketball, the better team is not going to lose a 7 game series.

Draymond Green nigging out literally cost the Warriors a title, just like KD choking like a bitch cost the Thunder a chance to beat the Warriors.

In reality they need to drop down to 24 teams, cannibalize the 8 that don't make it, and redraft the remaining players.

imagine if there was a relegation / promotion
some D-League (correction: G-League, for Gatorade, that is) coaches are fucking ridiculous with their styles, like RGV putting up the best offensive performances in the history of the sport or the Reno team scoring 170+ points a game sometimes
>>
>>74415733
Which is a result of lack of RNG because there are only 5 players on the court at a time. It can't be fixed without going to 1 game playoffs.
>>
>>74415795
Relegation actually makes a lot of sense for basketball, desu. It could easily become a worldwide sport with far-reaching league participation.
>>
>>74415672
Because baseball is literally 100% about depth. You've got only 5 starters in basketball whereas in baseball you've got 5-6 starting PITCHERS in a rotation. If someone like the Kings signed Lebron tomorrow, they'll be an instant playoff contender. If the Reds signed Mike Trout, they'd still be shit.
>>
>>74415908
NBA is throwing money at countries hoping to create another Yao Ming type situation (and the goodwill tours make for good PR), where an entire country becomes obsessed with the sport

honestly, I think they'd have better luck trying to get a middle eastern player, but those guys like soccer / F1 racing more than basketball

There's a cap on individual players though, which means once a player's value gets above that mark he can't get paid more no matter how dominant they are. This incentivizes the league's handful of stars to team up, win titles and make more endorsement money since they can't extract any bigger piece of the salary pie.
>>
>>74415299
>they are the richest team

doesn't matter with a salary cap and they don't even have the highest payroll.

If anything it's harder to build a contender in new york because there's no incentive to get good because Madison square garden is going to shit out money regardless and no free agents actually want to come to New York because of that journalism and jaded fans you mentioned.
>>
>>74415301
yeah but there's actually other things to play for in soccer leagues
>>
The NFL has just as many bad teams as the NBA does. It's harder to tell though because of the short season and the 1-off playoffs. The difference between a 14-2 and 11-5 team is like the difference between the Warriors and the Grizzlies. Yet in the NFL the lower team can fluke a win easier, so more of the teams are considered contenders.

I dont consider it a flaw that the NBA champion is easier to determine. After 82 games, you should know who the best is, and logically that would also show the same way in the playoffs. I want to see a champion who is actually the best. March Madness has some seriously mediocre winners and it cheapens the event to see a team that finishes 5th in conference or whatever then be "national champion" because it had an upset or two at the right time. In fact I'd prefer NBA only had top 4 of each conference make the playoffs
>>
>>74415007
Like all of the european leagues.
>>
Have you ever heard of Ligue 1?
>>
Bottom 5 NBA teams need to be sent to the D League
>>
NBA needs to consolidate the teams and players and you have must-watch match up every single night.

24 teams, eliminate:

>Minn (Wiggins, Lavine, Towns)
>OKC (Westbrook, Adams, Olidipo)
>NOLA (Boogie, AD, Jrue)
>Memphis (Conley, Gasol)
>Sacramento (LOL)
>Clippers (CP3, Blake, Jordan, Crawford, Redick)

just those 16 players moved around would improve the new league immensely
>>
>>74419367
>Sacramento (LOL)

Stop, anon. They're already dead.

The majority of fans would think he's a terrorist
>>

> I'd prefer NBA only had top 4 of each conference make the playoffs
Agree. Allowing more than half the teams to make the playoffs is absurd.
>>
>>74415733
>unlike in hockey, the better team wins 99 percent of the time in a 7 game series
The skill level of hockey teams is just infinitely closer. The better team will win in basketball so often because none of the other teams are even close to as good as the (at most) 5 relevant teams.

Upsets don't mean the sport has too much randomness to allow the better team to win, it just means the difference between 3rd and 6th is smaller.

isn't it the same with NHL?
>>
Basketball is a superstar sport. One or two great players can change your fortune
>>
>>74419350
Then they won't make money and fold

NBA shouldn't allow half the teams to make the playoffs
>>
shortage of talent at all positions

in football it's primarily just quarterback and Offensive tackle to a lesser extent.

Baseball has oodles of Relief pitchers and Position Players. There's some what of a shortage of Quality Starters due to bullpens being used more.

when you have shortage of talent, it's really hard for teams be competitive, especially when only 10 players are on the floor.

well if he was in a city with a prominent immigrant population - maybe New York, Houston, Toronto, Detroit - it'd be a cool fit
and if he was good the sport would explode

by the way we've had muslims in the NBA since the 60s
