I spent about 4 hours scouting, negotiating, and doing a really fantastic job. I improved 9/11 positions and added much needed depth. I arranged extra pre season friendlies to get our fitness up.

Then I got 4 serious injuries and took just 4 points from my first 8 games. Plus my star striker who is literally just my previous striker but +1 in every stat is yet to score in 5 games. What on earth do I do?

I've got to just exist for an entire season and hope I don't get fired for missing the playoffs. Also I've never won my first match. My fitness is never there, but I've not had a run like this.

They're not. I can tell you that because I manage in the neighbourhood (Slovenia). The prize-money are dogshit, the country's development level not good enough to allow for huge TV money so obviously the wages are terrible. That's also why one team very often rocks the league: whoever qualifies for the CL receives buckets of money, allowing them to buy literally anyone in the country or hire mercenaries.

You could go check the average wages for any profession in these countries. It is realistic. These leagues are actually licensed in FM, so it's not like SI went out of their way to make them dogshit.

Actually I've even played in a Yugoslavian db in FM15 several times. The dudes who made the db were pretty generous in terms of prize-money and TV money. It completely derailed the league in the first few years before settling down. Suddenly a huge number of teams, including dominant ones like Maribor, Partizan and the likes were showered with much, much more money than usual.

It ends in situations were clubs who roll the league can pay 10 times the wages for a player than another average club in the league. The league's top earner earns almost ten times more pre week than the average player (2.2k€ vs 250€). And I've tweaked the prize money and player values in my custom league; it's nowhere near the money in he Yugo setup: the top team wins 200k€ and bottom team earns roughly half that. Which is unrealistic as there's nowhere near that much money in Slovenia.

Ukrainians and Russians are expensive. First and foremost, both leagues are significantly better than any other east-European league, both being in the Top 10 in terms of reputation. Second, they both have requirements in terms of national player IIRC, which also makes national players more expensive to buy. Third, Russia has a much higher level of development than ex-Yugo countries and a lot of clubs are sponsored by Russian gas money. Managing in Russia or in Netherlands is pretty much the same thing.

Even in my previous saves with CL wins with almost entirely a HG or soon to be HG squad, it has never happened. Slovenia's youth rating is terrible at 78, the regens are horse-shit.

But yeah basically since you have shit rep and shit money, you spend your time scouting youngsters worldwide, developing them and either keeping them to get better in CL or sell them to improve your facilities and training, to scout more youngsters around the world, so on so forth until you became relevant.

Pic related is (one of) my CL winning squads. Loads of youngsters that are either HG or soon to be. And very few good Slovenians. At that point I was so dominant that I would just scout every Slovenian regen on intake day and buy the best ones to fill my bench at best. Good enough to boss the league for the very best of them, but not good enough for European cups.

AFAIK, they don't. And even then, "natural" SWs are terrible: they're often CBs who happen to be able to play there and that's it. Retrain a player from another position, usually FB or DM.

How does adding a league during your save work? Is it worth adding them as they'll become relevant to me? For example, I'm currently in the National League, but when I get to League 2 it would be worth having French League 2 and similar leagues, when I'm in the prem, it's worth having Spain 1, Ned 1, Germany 1, etc.

I don't have much experience with wingbacks but i think they work better with IF support instead of attack.

Also BWM and CM (D) both are roles that close down, change one of those to a role that can hold the midfield.
