Are you funny?
have tried making yourself funnier?
how important is it when trying to connect with someone?
It's very important. Humor can make up for other assets, and I found that I'm funny but only when I'm rewlly comfortable and uninhibited. Hurts for meeting new people, helps when people bust me out of my shell and say, "blah blah blah I thought you were so serious when I met you."
Watch comedy and learn from it. Take jokes that fit your personality, and don't be uptight. Also, unless you're studying to be a comedian and even then, you'll find others with your sense of humor.

ok.
I used to watch mst3k, I've considered watching a movie myself and riffing it by myself as practice.

>Are you funny?
Yeah, I'm a joker.
>have tried making yourself funnier?
No. My wisecracking is largely an involuntary defense mechanism.
>how important is it when trying to connect with someone?
I don't think my wife would like me as much if she didn't think I was funny, and before I was married I made all my other girlfriends laugh, so I guess somewhat important?
More important on a practical level, I found that being able to be witty in unfamiliar situations (at work in particular) gives the impression of my being confident and outgoing. In reality, I'm almost the opposite. But I fake it well.
