She is definitely Indian and not Pakistani. Disclaimer I’m not Indian or Pakistani but I have dated them.

If she is going out with guys (Indian or not) I think she isn’t likely to be too socially conservative. Conservative girls will not even date so I think you have a chance. She might not go out with white guys but there is nothing you can do about that aspect you got to just give it a go and see what happens. If she is studying abroad and is doing masters then she is likely to come from a well-educated/well off family so is likely to be more liberal. All I’ll say is that you might need to take things a bit slower, and they might take things a bit more seriously that a normal hook up (i.e. they are looking for husband material). It all kinds of depends on the girl you need to just be a bit observant.

For the Indian guys I know no, it wouldn't be normal. But i only know highly educated, rich indians who I think are pretty untypical of normal indians.

It sounds like typical behavior for guys from suppressed backgrounds where they might have limited opportunities for having relations with girls.
