Not that there's no drama, there's just usually less. They're also (in my experience) easier to handle when they're upset. Guys are way easier to deal with! I'm a girl but I totally admire the way guys treat their friends and the camaraderie, honesty, and good intentions that seem to characterize their relationships. Women could honestly learn so much from them--even strong female friendships are blighted with competition, flakiness, and constant (albeit sub-conscious) manipulation. Women also have no understanding like the male version of "bros over hoes." As soon as your best friend gets a new boyfriend, you just kind of have to accept that you will not be nearly as close as you once were, and that you've kind of been downgraded in status. Guys seem to be able to maintain relationships without any of that crap.

Maybe some girls do like getting the attention, but when I want to hang out with guys, I want to be treated like a guy myself. It's idealistic, but I don't want any kind of gender barrier to exist like that.

I remember reading an article about women in Japan dating visiting American dudes. The women all talked about how much more open and straightforward and nonfuckgiving these dudes were and my reaction was "Ok, but do you really think that nobody tells polite lies in Murrica? Like, actually? All of Murrica, not one polite lie?" It really felt like they had swapped one kind of bullshit that they were extra sensitive to for another kind of bullshit they were incapable of understanding due to lack of familiarity, and they just perceived it as a lack of bullshit.

Like, I'm a guy and being friends with guys is awful. It's a constant balancing act of 1: don't be a fag 2: don't accidentally imply someone else is a fag 3: don't reveal that you're constantly bending over backwards to accomplish 1 and 2 (because see 1) 4: don't reveal that you're constantly babysitting these dumb idiots' feelings (because see 2) 5: be relaxed all the time despite 1-4. So when I'm friends with ladies that all goes in the garbage and when there's ladydrama I don't understand it and it passes right through my torso without hurting me. And that's kind of what I see with people answering the OP's question.

Anyway be friends with whoever you want but everything is awful tldr
