Smart, interesting people who are nice & attractive aren't going to stay single for very long. By freshman year of college they've probably paired themselves off to someone similarly worthy. Only severe introversion or unfortunate circumstances are going to get in the way of that. I knew a gifted math major who had extremely strict Muslim parents that refused to let her date. I also knew a positively lovely pharmacist whose husband left her for a man. If she hadn't been still legally married to the guy I would've pursued her myself. She was quite a catch.
