If you can't afford to feed your animals, don't own animals. I say this as someone who was scrounging what I could for years to care for 2 cats I refused to give up because I had an emotional connection to them due to growing up with only them and an abusive parent. The couple times I couldn't effectively care for them, I put them in the temporary care of friends until I could.

Tuna is not "shitty food", it's fucking human grade food in comparison to animal byproduct that makes up most pet foods. You just shouldn't make it a constant (or only) meal. Salmon also works. Some cats will eat canned chicken too but some are more picky. Those "Medleys" in the light green cans cost <1$ a can and even though they're small cans they're better than most of the larger stuff. You'll need something with the right proteins in the long run so if you're this broke for more than a month you should really look into temporarily shacking your cat up with a friend or family member who doesn't mind caring for her until you're on your feet.
