I just found out about Puyo Puyo Tetris and have quickly fallen in love with both games. Downloaded a partially translated Japanese version for the 3DS. I was supposed to be playing Phoenix Wright but...getting Tetris's is hella fun, haha.

Puyo is sorta like Tetris except instead of blocks there's (normally) 2 Puyo blobs connected together and with varying colours. Link together 4 or more of the same coloured Puyos and they all explode. You can combo multiple times if the first link of Puyos causes other colours to link up.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is a game that has several game modes featuring Puyu Puyo and Tetris. Puyo by itself, Tetris by itself, a Swap mode where there is a Puyo board and a Tetris board which players are forced to switch between every 30 seconds (my favorite game mode, it gets really intense), and a mode where Puyo and Tetris blocks appear at the same time. I think there's one or two more different modes but I haven't gotten around to trying them yet.

Puyo Puyo Tetris' main gimmick is that you fight other players (normally 1v1). After you clear up a line or link Puyos together, you send a line of junk Tetris blocks or junk Puyo colours to the opponent. The higher your combos or the more lines you clear determine how many junk pieces are sent to your opponent, and if you clear lines or link Puyos in time you can counterattack and send junk pieces to your opponent!

It's out in English for Switch and PS4, I got intrigued by it after Game Grumps played it. It's really worth it, I'd highly recommend it!

Oddly enough it's not (well, maybe the fusion mode is hard). It looks intimidating, yeah, but it feels simple and intuitive once you start playing. After a couple of games you get the grasp of it!

Apparently they've been sniping old 3DS users who have hacks. Not entirely sure how they did it, I didn't really follow it too closely. Thankfully the homebrew community already had a way to unban consoles. The ban only stopped you from playing online, you could still use the eShop and play locally with other 3DS users. The ban pretty much affected Pokemon and Monster Hunter players, haha.
