why do a lot of people just stop talking for 30-60 minute intervals in online chats without directly saying they dont want to talk to you, or even as much as a brb? they'll always come back and just resume the conversation. is there any reason so many people do this?

Work, talking to someone else, watching TV/movie.
they have a life and can't talk to you 24/7 idiot

but why is "brb" such a hard concept to grasp
Are you sure they're not just hoping you'll get bored and fuck off before realising you're still there and spending 20 minutes thinking of something to say?

I don't know, it just isn't common anymore. I usually do it during work, zip on and off over breaks or during lulls, never occurs to me to explain my not responding unless we were in the middle of something time sensitive.

Just let it go bro. Not even worth your time or effort.

brb implies they will be back quickly
