Hello there Italy,
I'm 24/m currently living in Australia but I want to move to Florence to study fine art for a year (at least). Study starts in October so I've got some time to prepare. Does anyone live there and/or know whats it like? Way of life? Costs? Expenses? Rent?
Andy advice or help is greatly appreciated

Florence is a tourist city nowadays, but i guess it's ok if you are going to spend only one year there. it's of course aesthetically gorgeous: especially if you have never been to Italy, you will find yourself overwhelmed by the amount of beauty all around. however, the city center has been destroyed by mass tourism and, at the same time, there is not a lot going on as for nightlife: bars are meh and discos suck (besides Tenax, which is in the periphery). you will never have sex with a Florentine girl unless you are loaded, so you wanna hit on Italian non-Florentine university students. Florence is moderately expensive but you can find a single room for about 400€/month. I strongly suggest you to look for something in the city center so you can buy a second hand bike for 50€ and avoid public transportation completely.
Random things I like about Florence:
- eating a lampredotto in Piazza Sant'Ambrogio,
- running in Parco delle Cascine,
- drinking in piazza SS. Annunziata in the summer.

Public transportation is not expensive but bad yeah. The streets are small and buses often get stuck in the traffic. Bicycle or motorbike are the best means of transportation.
