Well, you could use an IRC client like hexchat, or through your browser on https://webchat.freenode.net/.
The channel name is #/soc.
The channel is hosted on Freenode, so you can use it's default settings in your client: chat.freenode.net:6697

Well, It's an unfiltered IRC, So basically anyone can join and chill.

OP, you should've hosted your own server instead of using freenode so you have a bit more control but that's my personal opinion.
I hopped in only to find I was the only user; you should seriously configure an irc bouncer dude if you want to make this sort've thing work long term.
Maybe consider using Riot.im or some other Matrix-based setup to do this.
