250x250 is a bit too small in my opinion.
the shots chosen are nice, font is good.
the arrows maybe a bit less dominant (maybe less transparency or moved a bit more to the edge) but they do a good job of framing it.

it's still wishy washy for me. and if i click on it it becomes crisp while being the same size. it's probably something like thumbnails being stripped of data to lower the resolution and serverload. and only if they are "opened" they display the picture fully.
