This is only true to an extent. Platinum or food grade silicone won't break each other down, so you can use silicone toys and lube together. The issue comes from 'toys that say they're silicone but it's a mixture of other materials as well, and same goes for the lube. So cheap non 100% silicone toys and lubes don't go well together.
