Lose the weight for yourself and overall health. Everything else that comes with it is a bonus.
I'm still cutting myself, down from 185 to 170-168. Feels amazing.

It's pathetic but the confidence is linked to the weight for me. I hate fat enabling and acceptance movements but the arguments I see thrown at them rarely seem to acknowledge that obesity is sometimes a physical manifestation of depression. The 'just eat less' and 'why should you get praise for doing something I've always done' arguments are completely right but basically unhelpful, at least they were to me. I had to overcome real inner problems before this started, the confidence grows with the loss.

Anyway enough whinging, I don't know if this is true for everyone. Big up to your cottage worker mate though. I go to the docks to pick up stock for work sometimes and the guys there fucking terrify me, 130-150kg beasts who spend all day hauling 70kg sacks and eating 5000 calories of McDonalds. Awesome lads but wouldn't want to get on their bad side.
