Latin is a given, if you speak at least 3 Latin derivatives it's easier to understand. We always do the translations with a dictionary by our side (plus notes from the Professors) so it's easier to pick up as you go. It isn't necessary but Religion is. Protestants go to the evangelical class, Catholics to the catholical and the rest and people who don't want to go to neither of those classes but are registered as one of the both religions go to the ethics class.

Complicated matter, many personal reasons (like his philosophy ruining people close to me), but mostly how easily he corrupts. He's an author that's easy to misinterpret, so much so he's one of the most quoted philosophers in Hollywood and I'm afraid most people reading him will understand his words wrong (as did I in the beginning, when I read his work in my teens) and doing so leads to catastrophe. A lot of people will see him as a paragon for Nihilism and use his words to justify apathy and existential dread when the man couldn't be further from that. His view on morality irks me too but that's another matter.
