So you say he stopped hitting you, but he is still mistreating you by doing morally questionable things.

1. Constant projection of guilt and blame for things that you are and are not responsible for. If you are responsible for it, the guilt and blame is amplified so that you are forced to listen to him talk about how incompetent you are for far longer than necessary. Whenever anything goes wrong, even something that doesn't fucking matter, he will make the assumption that it's your fault and loudly inform you of this.

2. Constant invocation of "but you promised" in situations where the word "promise" was never used, to make it seem like by acting according to your own will, you are betraying him on some deeply immoral level.

3. Conspicuous sulking, screaming, crying, and other ways of emotionally punishing you because you had a disagreement and you refused to just give in.

4. Default assumption that you are for some reason obligated to do every little task for him for no other reason than that he does not feel like putting in the effort for himself.

He's still a jerk.
All of this can still be true if you are a male and your partner is female.
