Evening /soc/,
I'm going to be in Atlanta, GA in January.
Any anons from the area care to share the best places to go like bars, restaurants, shops, etc. that aren't complete tourists traps?
Also what can I expect the people to be like?
TL:DR How can I make the most of my trip to Atlanta?
30/m ATL anon here. It really depends on what you're into.
There are a ton of neighborhoods throughout the city that offer really different things.
In a nutshell:
Hipster : east Atlanta or little 5 points (my favorite)
Yuppy: buckhead or vinings
Older yuppy / generally nic: Decatur
Gay: midtown

Anywhere for someone into music to go to?
What are some really good local diners? More off the beaten path type stuff.
The earl always has good music. I'd say check creative loafing, pretty much every show is listed there. Clatl.com
As for food, kind of depends on where you're from / what you're looking for. It's a real foodie city. I'd try the food truck parking lot (like 20 food trucks all park there), krog street market and ponce city market have tons of choices, cafeteria style, or fox bros bbq
bump. I love MJQ Concourse btw, it's really fun.
Ponce City Market's fun, especially the Skyline park, but might be cold in Jan. It really depends on what you want to do. Krog street also good.
Definitely check out creative loafing for music options.
