ERP is not cheating, and I will be the first to claim that. I'm very open about my hobby with all my RL partners, and most are fine with it (a lot even join in). But when you start concealing it while in a relationship it's a really bad sign, because that shows at some level you do consider it cheating. Otherwise, why hide it? And once you start hiding things in a relationship, it's all a downhill slope.

This is where I'd go with it. Dodges some messes, and opens you up to more opportunities than just a (somewhat) real world-resembling context. Fantasy world? Not-zi elves. Total race elitists, arbitrarily regarded as sexy in most contexts, and the juxtaposition of the usual elf motifs being replaced by anachronistic modern-inspired military strictness could be interesting. Sci-find setting? "The Empire", of course. Human supremacists, so plenty of room to abuse aliens; might also look down on any humans that aren't a part of homeworld genetic lineage, fringe worlders and near-humans and the like. Etc.

It does lack a bit of the knee-jerk horror that's built into modern cultural consciousness re: actual Nazis, which can be useful, but there's definite upsides to it, too.

Is there? Though sex crimes fascinate most people, especially when they're repressed. That's why Victorian women were into bodice rippers. If I didn't know you, and had to take a guess at your kinks based on the description paragraph alone without looking at your kink list, I'd likely guess you were looking for nothing more extreme than exhibitionism, theatrical BDSM, rough sex, drugs and maybe noncon. The jump from that description to that kink list is jarring; I'd advise building up to/leading into/hinting at the darker stuff in the profile body, that way the kinks follow more logically from it (and you're more likely to catch people who are after those same things, since they won't just write you off as too vanilla based solely on the profile body).

Just read the profile thoroughly. There will often be things that stick out that they'll be difficult or bad. Usually channer memes are a red flag, though.
I also find that all too often the kind of brash and abusive dominants tend to be brash and abusive OOC, which is a shame.

Really if their character seems like an asshole, it's an unfortunate reality that they might be an asshole as well, unless there's a bit of OOC, or it's self-aware (though I once made a character that I thought came across as obviously "she thinks she's big and bad, but she's full of herself" but apparently she came off as just being that same kind of self-aggrandizing OOC). Someone last thread also had the problem that people didn't realize her character was for being raped, not for being a dominant bitch.

For a majority of cases sure, it's enough to just specify what limbs are restrained to what and just move on, sure. This is for scenes with partners and myself where there's a focus on the actual specifics and minutia of the bondage process, including things like safety and comfort.I've actually found a scene where the ropes came -off- (because the leads of a tightening knot make for bad handholds) just as compelling and enjoyable as one where the ropework went just fine. Sex with realistic little stumbles is great.

I gotta come up with multiple characters, multiple scenarios too probably, and I've got to update them all on the fly which can be really tricky. I can't answer why anyone else poofs, but when I first joined f-list I had some severe anxiety problems. I was so scared of saying "no" I would poof rather than disagree with my partner. There wouldn't be any warning, to my partners it would look like we were having a normal conversation, and then I'd just disappear. I did this to a ton of people, including people from these very threads, and I still feel a bit bad about that.

So yeah, don't discount that your partner might have some pretty serious problems that make them do that. It's not your fault either, they're just messed up. I ended up leaving F-list, ERP, and then the internet entirely for over two years while I dealt with my issues.

Yes, it was. I was very worried if I tried that they would see through my lie. Which isn't logical at all, they have no reason to question my excuse. But as I said this isn't a logical process, so my reaction instead would be to shut off my computer and hide in my bed. If they were lucky, after a few days or weeks I would contact them again and try to pretend like nothing happen. But if they even mentioned my absence I would poof away forever.

You can imagine how unhealthy this behavior is, and it was not confined to just my online life. The anxiety never really goes away either, even with meds. There's no such thing as a "cure" for mental illness, you just learn methods to deal with it. One of them is gaining the ability to make bullshit excuses. But it's not something everyone can do. Throw "F-Chat" in there as a search term if you want, but that doesn't always show up in chat logs. Toss a couple other relevant phrases or words you'd expect to come up in a log (sexual anatomy, etc), and stick a past-tense verb in there (in quotes) if you get too many real-porn results, since those tend to only come up in writing, rather than porn movie titles.

He can use custom kinks to give some hints to potential partners what sort of RPs he'd like with those types of characters. Either they plan on (or have previously, or are currently) using them for an actual game in addition to wordfucking, or it helps them get a better handle on how the character works. I wouldn't do exactly that myself, but I did once use a huge list of in-depth questions that I found somewhere before starting on a character, which is kinda similar.
