General OREGON and PORTLAND, OR thread! Seems like it's hard to find other Oregonians sometimes... Feel free to post kiks or whatever.

26 male homo here. Not looking for hookups or anything, unless you happen to be a real subby dude...

What's up with the people doing 90+ on 205? I've seen several almost catastrophic near misses already. Do we have some kind of racing problem suddenly?
>>
>>24524894
29 male straight Portland

Geez, haven't seen it on 205, but I live in St John's (North Portland) and every night there is street racing here.
>>
19 m Straight

And i used to work in Gresham, 84 to 205 to I 5 just nuts. 45 minutes speeding down 205 to get there @ 5:45 am. 3 to 4 hours home in the evening.
>>

Straight but goes to a gay bar? Why do you go there? Just a fun atmosphere?

Been thinking about going to Crush because I've heard occasionally there are transgender people there. Also there is a nude dance night occasionally?...really like the idea of rocking with my cock out, but too embarrassed that I'd just be hard all the time and people would think I'm just a pervert.

South east kid. Just hanging out drinking and watching baseball right now. Kik is fuzzyhipsterbear if anyone wants to chat.

On a side note I've really been interested in giving someone some oral. Pref a trap but who knows.

Washingtonian here, question for all you Oregonians:
I'm in my senior year of college and I'm considering moving to Oregon if I can find work. I just want to have a fresh start somewhere else, and to be honest I'm tired of bumping into my whore of an ex and her newly husband everywhere I go (Seriously, I bump into them in 5 cities by pure accident), and I love the low profile feel of Oregon. I know for a fact I won't move to Portland because it's becoming the next San Fransisco, but I have my eyes on something like Astoria and Cannon Beach. Probably because of the numerous years my family has had reunions there and the movies I watched (Goonies and Kindergarten Cop). Should I consider it or stay the fuck where I am?
>>
Also, quick trivia. Does Richard Bishop of the Sun City Girls live in town? Does in play in town regularly
>>
>>24525986
First off, bummer about randomly running into an ex...had that happen myself so I moved to Portland.

I've only been to Astoria and Cannon Beach for work or for day trips with friends. It's great for trips...but doesn't seem like much to do for if you're living there. But never lived there so don't fully trust that opinion. Good luck man!

33, m, straight, also in Vancouver, working near St. Johns.

Haven't seen the shit on 205 lately but I know 5 is getting worse and worse every year. By the time anything happens with the bridge they're gonna need to expand it again.

Where do people like to grab a cheap beer around PSU? Trying to branch out from the Cheerful Tortoise
>>
>>24527388
It ain't cheap, but Rogue is right there. Tasty treats and good beer.
>>
>>24527420
yeah I probably should've said I'm looking for a new scene. Rouge has good food and beer, but the atmosphere is not my favorite.

I'm 28, I'm straight, I'm a dude. Since I don't have a beard or am a hipster, I'm basically undesirable by women.
Yay Portland.

I have a beard, but I'm Asian and a nerd (and not the cool hipster sort of nerd) so I am pretty undesirable by women as well.

Yay Portland as well.
>>
>>24529370
Portland's dating scene sucks balls. I mean, I'm not anti-homosexual, but as a straight man, I feel like I'm flying solo in this city.
>>
>>24529379
I agree with the dating scene, the few girlfriends I've had here were very weird or messed up...

Thankfully I do have an fwb at the moment to pass the time and I love being with her, but she's like all the other women I have a "chance" with, super bbw.
>>
anyone from eugene? 19/f

I've lived here all my life and still feels like there's nothing to do if you don't like hanging out downtown looking homeless

Aren't there cool college parties to crash? That's what I did when I lived there. Hang around the university mostly. Bowl maybe.

It's nice to see Oregon here when scrolling through /soc/.

How's everyone doing tonight?

It rained last night for the exact half hour I was moving my friend's things to his new place in my uncovered truck. Fuck you, weather.
>>
>>24529635
Oh so you're the one that caused the rain!

Doing pretty good, first time socializing here, horny as hell, but have 3 days off for watching Blizzcon and possibly a night with my fwb so not doing so bad.
>>
>>24529635
Chilling; just played some guitar. I'm kinda wanna get fucked up but I'll probably just end up going to bed early!
>>
>>24529635
Listening to Jazz, working on a Grad paper, wishing I could take some time and go find an easy lay.
Same thing I do every night Pinky.
>>
>>24529710
What are you listening to?
>>
>>24529719
Spotify Classical Jazz playlist.
It's got Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Martino.
Good background noise while I work. And mull over things.
>>
>>24529651
pretty horny at the moment too really, first quiet bit of alone time I've had in a few days. As a result, pretty much everything I'm doing is getting multi-tasked with sexting and porn. can't complain.

>>24529658
A musician, sweet. I've been meaning to learn an instrument for years. I know there's no time like the present, but I really want to carve out special time to focus on it and do it right. As it stands, the only instrument I've got is whistling!
An early bedtime isn't so bad.

>>24529710
Jazz and academics. Not a bad fit. If you get your work done first and you've got everything squared away, it'll be easier to find someone to fuck later! Easier to say than do, though.

So in general, it sounds like Oregon's currently a combination of horny and tired. That checks out, I think.
>>
>>24529768
Very nice, definitely some good music. In the past that would be my go to music, but as of late I've been obsessed with Twenty One Pilots. Not jazz per se, but definitely has some roots in blues reggae.
>>
>>24529803
What would you learn if you could?
>>
>>24529803
First quiet bit of alone time means that you have a good sex life in general at least? And same here with the multi-tasking.
>>
>>24529819
I haven't totally decided. I find a lot of instruments really beautiful in their own way, each has its own voice and natural ability to set certain moods. I've always loved the piano because of its simplicity in function but potential complexity in practice... but string instruments like the violin or cello can yield a strong emotional sound in talented hands. The guitar seems like a reasonable compromise of accessibility and versatility, and it could acclimate me to the kind of accurate dexterity I would require to move on to different instruments in the future. I think realistically, I'm going to either go for guitar or piano when I need to familiarize myself with the art of making music.

>>24529836
Yeah, I'm happy with it otherwise. I've got a reliable FWB around periodically, and I can find what I want elsewhere if he can't provide. Gays have it easy to be honest... it's kind of a meat market out there. No matter what though, sometimes it's just nice to spend some time on just yourself, y'know?
>>
>>24529867
Dude. Go piano. It will allow you so much more variability if you branch out to other instruments. they can be such a good tool to learn theory on. If you can get the piano down you can probably experiment with most anything.
>>
>>24529867
Very introspective of you!...but yeah...wish I were gay. I'm very sensitive, deep, and love cocks...and yet not a homosexual or even bi...
>>
>>24529803
Sadly, I can't get my work done immediately. This grad paper was supposed to be done already, and now I have to have it finished by mid-December at latest.
Which basically means a long dry spell and no-fun time for me. Between this and my shitty retail job, I think the real estate in Hell is looking pretty good.

Moved to Oregon recently and I'm really sick of this whiny, passive aggressive attitude that's so common here.
>>
>>24530048
Where did you move from? It has been deemed Portland Passive Aggressive and I agree. It is a plague.
>>
>>24529991

Alabama.
I know whining on the internet about people being whiny isn't a good look, but I'm sick of this shit. Why don't people just say what they mean? So many people here use politeness as a weapon. I hate it here and I want to go home.
Also everybody sucks at driving and won't shut up about the rain. It doesn't even rain that much.
>>
>>24530093
Not really using Skype right now due to the aforementioned Grad paper, but I can get you that.
My kik throwaway is LuckyDude777. Hit that and I can get you Skype through that. Sorry if that's paranoid, but my Skype got hacked recently.
>>
>>24530048
Do you live in Portland? Because if so, it's because boys from portland are all beta cuck hipsters.

But that attitude is all women, really.
>>
>>24530115
I don't live in Portland and from what I've seen this is pretty widespread throughout the state. The average person here is just a weenie.
>>
>>24530107
Oh yeah I've hear people from the south talk about it before. It sucks. Also, who complains about the rain? It's like the best part of living here.

Have any friends yet? What are you here for?
>>
>>24530123
>I've hear people from the south talk about it before.
I guess I'm glad it's not just me.
>who complains about the rain?
Most people don't really complain about it, they just talk about it all the time. All I heard when I first moved here was "oh boy get ready for the rain" and "I hope you have a good raincoat lol" and shit, and all it's really done is drizzle on and off every couple of days, people act like it's a big thing. There was a bit of a storm a couple weeks ago and people lost their fucking minds over it, I don't think I'll ever hear the end of it. It doesn't rain as hard or as often as it does in the south and people back home barely mentioned it, it'd rain so hard it hurt and all you'd really hear is "I hope you rolled your windows up."
>Have any friends yet?
No, not really. I'm kind of a homebody and I work alone.
>What are you here for?
Just family stuff.
>>
>>24530159
Well, if you ever need a fellow young twenties adult to get drunk with, I'll gladly do it. Drinking makes you not miss home and makes things generally better (sort of).

But yeah that rain stuff is stupid as fuck. All the hype around Portland makes me want to leave much quicker. I know a guy who grew here in the 70's - 80's. He always talks about how chill it was and everyone was poor and cool. Now he's still poor an getting kicked out of his own city.
>>
>>24529923
>love cocks
>not a homosexual
the internet has trained me to identify these types of combinations and utilize them against you for the purposes of humor, but i totally get it! so i can't.

>>24529886
Thanks for the advice! I'm still split, but I suppose focusing on the theoretical and technical aspects of music first would be wise before moving on to more specific instrument requirements. At the very least, I already know that I have some of the manual dexterity required to play a piano if just because of my comfort with typing.

>>24529991
Aw, damn. I'm also running a bit behind on all my obligations lately. It's stressful and it makes it easy to ascribe blame to one's self before even finishing it, which is counterproductive. I'm not certain that a busy schedule means that there's no time to get laid... it just means that the opportunities available might be different from usual. Maybe you can find some regular qt who gets off on sexting you when you should be busy working or something and you can call it a day!

>>24530048
It seems like passive aggression is a blight upon the area. I grew up here, and I find myself guilty of it sometimes. We're very confrontation-avoidant as a people in general it seems like, and it can seem easier to be passive aggressive than deal with the issue directly, especially if it can be disguised as an attempt at humor. I worry that as a general trend, it causes lots of negative emotions to get pent up in communities and boil over, since passive aggression doesn't ever really solve the problem. On the plus side, if you can find people here who appreciate straight-shooters, you have likely found instant friends.

>>24530107
I agree about the driving. People can't drive anymore.

>>24530108
Paranoia is no longer a fringe philosophy. Our data is regularly mismanaged and terribly important; The drive to control it more effectively is natural.
>>

Bored as fuck right now and wishing I had people to talk to that weren't roommates.

>>24530122
>the average person here is just a weenie

It feels impossible to meet women that aren't sjws and men that aren't cucks in my area.
>>
>>24530048
Ayyy wanna fuck
>>
>>24530208
Where I live everybody is just a "cowboy/girl" and it's awful.

The men are douchy, the women are cunts, they share no interests in common with me so I just sit on the internet all day.

Also the nearest "city" to me is Bend, and that place is Portland Lite. "Look how quirky we are! We're not like other cities!"
>>
>>24530222
I haven't been to Bend quite yet, but I've heard mixed things. I've met some cool people, sure, but nobody that I can really click with to where I want to actually spend time with them.

Moving across the entire country without family when you're young blows.
>>
>>24530180
Thanks, I don't drink though.

Portland does seem like it was cool at one point. It still is, if you take out most of the people. I went to Powell's and the Dark Horse HQ and some other stuff, it's pretty nice. I love the food trucks, that's one thing Alabama doesn't really have.

>>24530193
It's funny, I always thought of myself as a bit of a doormat until I came here, but this is some next level shit. Just what is everybody so afraid of?
And yeah the driving is really getting to me.
>mfw oregonians drive 5mph under the limit
>mfw oregonians slow down to merge
>mfw oregonians don't know what to do with a roundabout
>mfw one way streets for days
>mfw no face
>>
>>24530159
The rain junk is mostly just our form of small talk.

>>24530180
The rise of living costs here is saddening. I grew up in Portland- it's my home town and I know it like the back of my hand. I'm comfortable with its patterns, its weather, and its people. But yet I might also be priced out of the area and be forced to leave, not too long from now. It's unfortunate.

>>24530208
The SJWs and cucks outnumber the reasonable people, and appear to be the only people around because they're so narcissistic and so noisy. But I guarantee you, there are some chill people in the area. Just keep trying! The worst that happens is an SJW calls you a rapist for buying them a drink, but they can't really help it. I treat it like a dog humping your leg or something, it's just their dysfunction.

>>24530222
I haven't been to Bend in a really long time. It always did seem to kind of have the feel that it was trying to play catch-up with Portland in a few cultural ways. It seemed kind of drab to me at the time. I hope the quirkiness plauge dies out sometime and we can go back to normal life.
>>
>>24530208
>women that aren't sjws and men that aren't cucks
Is that what happened? All the men just submitted to the women?

>>24530216
Ayyy I'll pass
>>
>>24530240
>Just what is everybody so afraid of?
They don't want to offend a special snowflake gender non-commital xhe/xher ham planet that thinks that biological sex doesn't exist and it's all made up because if they offend their trigender overlord they might get called a transphobe, and all the other hipsters and snowflakes will start snapping their fingers saying "Shame! Shame! Shame!" And they'll end up killing themselves out of guilt.

No but really, fuck Portland, fuck Eugene, and fuck Bend.

I don't know how bad Salem is, but every major city is fucking awful.
>>
>>24530240
The one-way streets are lame initially, but if you become familiar with the ones in the area you're at, they don't become too bad. Other people become the largest issue, because nobody generally cares to do their homework on the area they're living in and get confused constantly.

What really bugs me about Oregon drivers are the ones that go 5mph under the limit in the passing lane on highways next to a semi for 30 miles.

And yeah, we're pretty shit at merging. I think it's related to the passive aggression somehow.

Based on studying other drivers here though, I'm pretty sure I know what to do in a roundabout:
> approach in outermost lane
> drive across lanes to innermost lane of roundabout
> use no blinker, cut across all lanes of roundabout to enter incorrect lane of exit
right?

>>24530254
I'm not too fond of Salem myself. Had a friend work there for a few years, I'd visit often. Maybe it was just the part of town I was in (Keizer area) but everyone seemed kind of rude and impatient relative to what I was used to. Maybe I was just being a bitch.
>>
>>24530249
It sounds accurate. I think my problem is that I'm too oppressive of a white male and I need to check my self before I wreck myself.

Anybody doing anything exciting this Friday?
>>
>>24530268
Exciting is relative. Having some friends over for a few days, hanging out, playing vidya, getting high. We might even get crazy and order some take-out.

What kind of social stuff goes on in Portland that isn't laden with the aformentioned SJWs? Always liked the idea of checking out the hackerspaces in Portland at some point, since I like the concept of a shared workspace for DIY stuff, but I'm afraid it'll be full of edgy wannabe Mr. Robots.
>>
>>24530254
I haven't really seen any trannies or heard people talk about them. In Atlanta there's trannies for days and nobody is a baby about it, including them.
People just cant handle confrontation of any kind. If they're in a situation that can end in anybody being displeased with them, they'll just lie down. I've also noticed a whole lot of white guilt, which is strange because there's also a distinct lack of black people.

>>24530244
>The rain junk is mostly just our form of small talk
Doesn't it get old after a couple of decades or is it just a habit at this point?
Every day I get to work and as I walk by somebody will inevitably ask me if it's raining outside and all eyes turn to me to see what I say.
>>
>>24530287
All of the trannies I've met just... seem like they're gay, but don't want to say they're gay. They look like their real gender, act like their real gender, but they are attracted to their gender, so they say they're trannies.

Regardless, people suck everywhere, I guess having a bunch of beta male cucks and SJW hamplanets is better than having riots and looting.
>>
>>24530282
I don't know about you but I just need something to get the blood pumping. Everything seems so drab and isolated lately.

Some sort of group for collaborative work or a group going out for urbex would be better than sitting around doing nothing.
>>
>>24530287
Does it get old? Absolutely. At least, in my opinion, all forms of small talk are old. But it's just what some people do when they need to fill the silence with someone they don't really care much about. Silence is scary to some.

There's also a real element of it though... the weather forecast isn't always accurate, so if you come in dripping wet and someone has plans to move or something, it's nice to get an update from someone who just saw the stormclouds. There are practical implications to rain. But, I would be surprised if those particular instances were unique to Portland in any way.

>>24530287
Fun fact, there's a distinct lack of black people because the particular part of the city they were mostly living in, back in the 40s, suffered a significant flood. We more-or-less washed all the blacks out of town. To this day, there's a lower black population than most other major cities as a result of this, which when combined with the strong progressive and SJW pressures in our culture, puts some people into logical paradoxes. Bad code, I guess.

>>24530307
Ah yeah, I'm a relatively low-energy guy. I'll get the blood pumping for special occasions. But on that note, I've heard that Portland is relatively good for urban exploration- both in terms of the locations available and the response if you're caught in a place you shouldn't be.
>>
>>24530268
Probably finding a bar to get drunk at with my friendo. I might make weed cream in the morning and get baked after class.
>>
>>24530321
Weed cream... like, topical cream? I've never heard of this. How well/long does does it work? Is it difficult to make?

This seems like a very interesting delivery mechanism. At the moment I'm all about the disposable cartridges and the edibles, since I'm kind of a lazy fuck and I like the convenience of the carts and the duration and ease of the edibles.
>>
>>24530260
I guess people in the south are just a lot more into cars and driving in general. Everybody here drives either a Toyota or a Honda Civic, with the odd Subaru Forester peppered in. Sometimes you'll see a nice car but mostly people just don't take care of their cars at all, even the expensive ones. The trucks fucking slay me. I've seen some real cute little 80s pickups that have been treated like garbage, could be real nice with some lovin but people either don't know how or just don't care.

>>24530299
I haven't even seen a lot of obviously gay people. No more than anywhere else.
I guess more than anything the problem is in falsely thinking that they're open minded. They preach about equality and cover their cars in stupid coexist stickers but then it's all
>how dare you be white
>how dare you be straight
>how dare you be Christian
>how dare you dislike any individual who happens to be a minority
>how dare you listen to music that I don't like
>how dare you not watch the same TV shows as me
>how fucking dare you
But they don't even have the balls to say this ignorant shit to your face, maybe because they know it's hypocritical? They'll just make passive aggressive condescending comments about it so they feel good about themselves. It's like they WANT to be offended.
>>
>>24530331
Nah mate like half and half so I can put it in my coffee. I've had friend rub their dick with THC oil and getting blitzed though.
>>
>>24530320
I feel like if it rained as often and as hard as people talk about, it'd just stop being a discussion, it'd just be assumed. If it is raining it's almost always drizzle, and it's always so creepy quiet indoors here that you'd hear it pounding if it was a real rain.

There's not a lot of black people in northern states in general, at least relative to the southern states, but yeah there's definitely less here than even other northern states. It's just funny that white guilt is so much more prevalent. Is that because of the lack of minorities or despite it? Who knows. I'm sure there's a lot of internalized racism, white guilt in itself is basically a form of that.
>>
>>24530337
I definitely see the car neglect here. I'm guilty of it from time-to-time too. The moisture here isn't great for a lot of vehicles, it can cause a lot of mildew problems, and I think some people's solution to that problem is just to shrug it off and decide, "fuck it!" instead of periodically cleaning.

The double-standard in terms of the 'how dare you's are not specific to Portland. They're annoying here, but by no means unique. People who subjugate others claim they're freedom fighters. People who isolate communities claim they're unifiers. People have double standards about weird shit all over the world. Of course they won't bring it up directly, it's too obvious a contradiction in this form, so the passive-aggressive route is an easier way to make them feel good about themselves. Putting someone down over made up bullshit is easier than putting yourself above for reasons consistent with your ideology. People are pussies, they'll take the path of least resistance.

>>24530355
Ah that makes more sense! I saw personal lubricant with THC once and I thought it might've been the same kind of concept. I was curious but I passed.. I've been curious about the concept of topical application since, though. I wonder if it works just as well for the other person...

That sounds pretty good though. Caffeine and weed is a good mix. I have a friend who would probably love to do that.
>>
>>24530370
I don't know, Alabama is pretty damn humid even when it isn't raining. People just have different priorities I guess.

It's absolutely not specific to Oregon but I feel like it's a dominant trait in the average person here and it's not cute. This weird elitism isn't something I've experienced at this degree before and I'm not sure how to handle it. I don't think it's something I'll really be able to adjust to.
Idk I just want to go home.
>>
27/f southeast of portland
I have very few friends here that aren't work related and none that I feel comfortable going to bar type places with (ever work somewhere with a 'morals code'?). Trying to find friends over 21 in general and men over 25 specifically for hookups. Hookups particularly have been a bust so far.

Prepare your anus for "Got kik?" posts.
>>
>>24530445
That could be me! Lets go to bar type place. And yeah I understand the morals code thing. I work in a childcare facilitate so things are really uptight.

Eh, at some point, we should try to get a drink, regardless of hookup or not. My kik is earlier, but here it is again; LuckyDude777

Haha, thanks for the understanding! But anybody can make fun of me for that and I'd be ok with it. It's weird enough...and I am Asian and hate tea...something wrong with me...

>>24530370
With all this sjws discussion I do have to admit that I do fall into this category to some degree. At the same time though I hate seeing the stereotypical sjws out there like when Imago Dei did the whole communal black discussion thing after the relatively recent riots...I know for a fact they were doing it just to feel good about themselves and never actually investing into any real long term impact (I used to go to that church).

So I see where you guys are coming from, but racial, LGBT, gender equality and the like are incredibly important to me. I grew up in Northern Idaho where I was the racial diversity of my town. When I went to college (still in Idaho) I made some homosexual friends and a Muslim friend...and then some of my Idahoan friends started attacking them...almost constantly. And so now I will confront bigotry as well as point out micro-aggressions and openly talk about the dangers of both. So yes I do fall into that category, but I try to be as current as possible with international research and fair on both sides of the argument.

>>24530445
Might as well add this onto my chain of replies (you should know how crazy I am upfront). I'm 29/m North Portland and could use a good friend/hookup. So what are you into? Warning, I am a big nerd (board games in particular, but I am not defined by my nerdiness).

>>24530454
>>24530488
Well played you two!

Answered your own question. College town will be full of reddit users.

>>24531713
Actual equality makes a lot of sense to me, and to a lot of people who, I think, don't view themselves as SJWs. It's because actual equality is common-sense and reasonable, but that's not what these types want. As with all groups of people, they're defined by outsiders based on the actions of their most extreme members; "SJWs" have a lot of very vocal and very extreme members with non-reasonable ideologies.

>>24532941
I don't leave the house a whole lot either... there are so many things to do without even stepping out the door!

>>24533169
Good luck! I couldn't maintain my interest in the game, personally.
>>
>>24533271
It helps that PCC is great to play at, and also after my HERNIA I'm very glad to have any excuse to exercise.

Actually wound up picking up two girls there (Not Common for me, I've never done that) almost inadvertently in the game's heyday... except one was married and the other goasted me o3o
>>
>>24533271
Yes, I definitely do agree that there are a lot of very vocal and very extreme members with idiotic ideologies, but I don't agree with the concept of equality. I think that the idea of equality is reasonable and broadly accepted at least in the US, but a white man's idea of what equality should look like for a black person (or any other minority) is definitely inconsistent with objective reality.

But let's talk about something positive! You've mentioned your great sex life, what about your love life in Portland? How is the homosexual dating scene?
>>
>>24533307
Wow, picked up a married gal! Is there an interesting story?
>>
>>24533334
Sorta? Met a cute Chinese national, was feeling her out by text, asked her about her living situation as one does.

Told me she lives with her husband. I went from "horrhorrhorr gonna get laid" to "this is a bit" in about thirty seconds lmao. Apparently at some point when she was synthesizing American and Chinese ethics she missed the memo that marital infidelity is a no-no over here too!

(to be clear, didn't actually sleep with either one lmao, I've been on a dry spell since like July 2015, and that girl was soooper anxious, I had about ninety seconds of sex over a five-month relationship)
>>
>>24533351
Haha, well definitely a great story at least! And hey, you at least did get somewhere with a cute Asian! I'm Asian and I don't get chances with them!

And no shame in dry spells. I mentioned above that I got really lucky with my fwb situation (she's fat and therefore gets less action than she'd like and she's actually intelligent and sane and was actually looking for someone similar regardless of my looks).

Hope things turn around for you if that's what you want! Have you tried the alternative routes like clubs and online hookups?

kinda shut-in type portland girl here, would either of you be interested in hanging out with someone a bit younger (24)? I'm kinda awkward but I'd really love to make friends here!
>>
Anyone in Portland want to grab a drunk tonight?
>>
>>24533448
Or drink. Whichever you prefer.
>>
>>24533324
My love life is pretty tame. I'm not a terribly emotional person, so my needs are really low. I have some good friends in the area I hang out with all the time, one of which is my FWB of about 13 years. We're pretty close, and all that more or less satisfies my needs.
I wouldn't be fundamentally closed to the concept of a closer relationship I guess.. I just don't think I have those needs by default.
There are probably a lot of good options for PDX homos though. We're a pretty flexible city it seems like, and there are lots of cute dudes.
>>
>>24533464
Wow, don't feel the need for anything closer...hats off to you man! And 13 years fwb, I thought those either end up quickly becoming serious or ending in murder suicide! Glad to hear that someone is fulfilled though here.
>>
>>24533374
I'm only just starting to do so desu. I'm a chess teacher, and I've developed a Devious Plan (trademark) to meet people
-grab burger at bar
-set up board
-take any comers
-converse
-maybe get myself a handicap
-???
-profit
>>
>>24533494
Chess teacher! My father almost beat the Idaho state champion a long time ago and I was decent way back then, but I just don't like memorizing all the different strategies and moves. But I love board games in general nowadays. If I could attract a girl via setting up a fun board game I would definitely do that!
>>
>>24533504
I mean, odds are that I won't; I'm kinda unicorn hunting. It's hard to find a smart, ethical, single woman who isn't so professionally ahead of me that I'm not The Load financially. Still, could be a good time, might get me some butt. As much as I claim I'm unattractive, I do find sporadic success in convincing people I'm fuckworthy!
>>
>>24533511
Yeah...smart, ethical, single woman alone is definitely the unicorn it seems like nowadays. And man do I wish I could convince people I'm fuckworthy. Apparently magnum sized doesn't cut it.

He's probably just similar enough to me that we work out well long-term together. We're close friends and both not terribly emotionally driven, so we do what makes sense for us. We're attracted to each other physically, we hang out all the time, we're into the same kind of stuff, why not slip some boners in to the mix and get more out of each other? Hopefully no murder-suicides..

>>24533494
Chess teacher, cool! I love chess but I'm terrible at it. I'm a bit of an impatient person, though, and have not developed the intuitive sense for the tactical implications of certain configurations, so I often miss opportunities or novel attacks. I don't have many chances to improve my game, as I don't have many people who will play me in RL as often as I'd like to develop those instincts.

>>24533535
That's a ringing endorsement!
>>
>>24533534
loooool, yeah, it's a struggle. I'm finally seeking out treatment for what's Probably Depression, so being single should suck MUCH less soon~
>>
>>24533584
It requires a great deal of rote memorization and experience to play at a genuinely strong amateur level; I don't have any hopes of getting there anytime soon. Still, it's good fun with the kids, and a fun conversation starter.

>>24533584

Murder me for tripleposting if you must, but I have a question for anyone present who might know:

I'm heading to the Rose Garden area (just off the Zoo), taking public transit. Thinking of getting off at Washington Park and hiking the mile and a half up Kingston; is there a significantly better way?
>>
>>24533586
Geez, depression. Tough stuff. I have struggled with it on and off for a good portion of my life. Glad you're seeking help! I really want to make a comic about depression, suicide, and the like because society is very limited in how it is viewed. Good luck man!

>>24533603

>>
>>24533614
...I probably shouldn't have included "murder me" in a post where I mentioned my routing for tonight. Not the smartest thing I've ever done, but the idea itself of someone trying to play show-and-tell with my liver doesn't bug me immensely.

Only went in to schedule the appointment yesterday, lol. The Very Beginning.

>>24533623
Hey, a step is a step. I know how hard it is to even mention it to anybody I know much less go in for an appointment.

Bendite here.
I was going to post this in the chart thread, but the current chart thread that's up is using a new type of chart I'm not used to, so I'll just post it here.

I wouldn't mind hanging out with someone, but I'm not quite looking for anything sexual.
