I listen to a large variety - I can pretty much fall in love with some aspect of any song. I'm a musician myself, and I've performed with a bunch of different types of artists, so I've found that it's best to be as well rounded as possible.
My favorite piece of music of all time is Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue - just because it's jazzy and represents a lot of moods. I love music that takes you on a journey.
I highly recommend that everybody check out Jellyfish. Their only two albums are on my chart, and while they were highly derivative, they did their own thing and they did it really brilliantly.
(In order from left to right)
1. Jellyfish - Spilt Milk (Power Pop)
2. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (Power Pop)
3. Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (Cool Jazz)
4. Jellyfish - Bellybutton (Power Pop)
5. Ben Folds Five - Whatever and Ever Amen (Power Pop)
6. Girls - Father, Son, Holy Ghost (Rootsy Rock)
7. The Beach Boys - Smile Sessions (Power Pop)
8. Phoenix - Alphabetical (Alternative)
9. Queen - A Night At The Opera (Power Pop)
10. Prince - Prince (Pop/R&B)
11. Prince and The Revolution - Purple Rain (Pop/Rock/R&B)
12. Regina Spektor - Begin to Hope (Alternative/Singer-Songwriter)
13. Kimbra - Vows (Pop/R&B)
14. D'Angelo - Voodoo (R&B)
15. D'Angelo and the Vanguard - Black Messiah (R&B)
16. The Zombies - Odyssey and Oracle (Psychedelic Rock)
Most of the Artists you guys listen to I have never heard of
Anybody like spose the rapper?
>>24246731
Don't recognize some of yours, but I definitely love Slash, Metallica, Rage, Kanye, Iron Maiden, Megadeath, Neutral Milk, Wolfmother, Massive Attack, and Gary Clark Jr.
The bass player on the Spilt Milk album from my chart currently plays with Noel Gallagher - check that album out! Jon Brion was a guitar player on that album too, and he went on to do soundtrack and production work (he produced Kanye's Late Registration).
Oh - and I thought you'd enjoy this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOE9fE72QLg
