IOWA THREAD Just moved to Cedar Rapids. What is there to do here

Cedar Rapids really doesn't have much in it unfortunately. I used to live there and I was pretty bored. Ironically there's more to do around a small town than there is in Cedar Rapids.

Also, the crime rate is pretty low in Iowa, so I have no idea what you're talking about with being robbed.

No idea which part of Cedar Rapids you would've moved to, but I don't remember going through any shady neighborhoods. Anyway, I'm with the other guy, Des Moines would be more fun. Cedar Falls is probably the funnest place I've been to in Iowa. The only drawback to Cedar Falls is that it borders Waterloo.

Moved to Iowa 2 years ago and still have no friends ;-;

Just moved to North Central Iowa about 3 weeks ago, and I don't know a single person in the area. Bored as fuck, man.

I've enjoyed it so far. It's a very big campus with tons of people, so you probably won't get bored with it or run out of things to do. Also tons of organizations you can get involved with to meet new friends.

ISU is well known for its Engineering and Ag schools, but I'm not sure about econ/finance. It's possible you might want to consider a more renowned finance school, but it's definitely possible to prove yourself here. The job placement and career fairs are extremely good (in the Engineering college, I'd imagine they collaborate with the other colleges)

I don't think there's any way you'd regret coming here. Definitely take a tour, and check out other colleges as well.

i'm unsure about that. People up here are friendly, and there's usually been a 30-something dude or two in all my big classes. I'm sure you can make it work.

I'd see if you can find someone else who's been in that situation before to see what their experience was. That's more of a question about being nontraditional than about ISU
