There are hostels and cheap-ish hotels in Portland.
I'd offer you a place if I wasn't living in a studio with my boyfriend and soon my dog.
I also just moved here from the Southeast, you're gonna love it here - it's a good choice.

There's a housing crisis in Portland currently, I think you should probably look on craigslist to see if there are any roommate listings, I feel like that would be your best bet at the moment.

As for jobs once you get here, call centers and temp agencies are really helpful getting started off. Call centers usually just make you fill out the tax forms and then sit you down with a script. They've got a high turn over rate, but if you're just using it to get on your feet in a new place it's great.

I wish you best of luck. If you ever need someone to talk to, some advice or just a friend once you move here, I'm around.
