Beauty and attractiveness aren't really the same thing, you guys. A sunset or a piece of art can be aesthetically pleasing and thus beautiful in a purely intellectual sense, but when it comes to people, you are naturally attracted to people whose genes compliment your own, making for healthier offspring. Even if you think you're attracted to someone based on nothing but their looks, you're subconsciously taking into account a multitude of factors that have nothing to do with aesthetics.

I have difficulties telling what would qualify as aesthetic when looking into the mirror. I have very light skin so when i am in the bathroom at night, the lamp shines in such a weird brightness that you can see the colour of the muscle beneath it, i am almost translucent in that light.

I find that you are right though, today beauty is supposed to align with an almost eugenic strictness.
