I'm not trying to sweat you, but my formative fun years were as a DC area bureaucrat. I grew up on a shoestring budget surrounded by free museums, so it's whatever to me, if you do wind up wanting to just waltz around town. I'll happily buy food in exchange for even minimal tour guide services
