Looking back at some old shitscribbles, I've started thinking about maybe making an f-list profile based on a particular character. Been wanting to do it before but couldn't find any fitting art and wasn't sure about wanting to rely on my own. Now I either don't care or feel confident enough that I can improve.

I'm kind of struggling writing a profile, do I go straight into smut or do I actually try to write a backstory, thoughts and goals? Or just characteristics and sex.

It's just an ONA/web series, not a full fledged OVA or TV show, so the episodes are shorter to reflect that.

I do like well-written customs. Really over-long profiles are kind of a strike against, especially when you have mountains of backstory that's probably irrelevant to whatever scene we're gonna do. Coherently-chosen art of passable quality is always a plus. Honestly though, more than anything else, it's a gut feeling - just something about the way a profile is put together that makes me think "yeah, this is something I want in on." Terribly un-scientific, that, but so it goes.

My profiles have none of these things, but let's just look over that fact. More than profiles though, first interaction with a person is what really matters to me. An average profile can be carried by someone who's cool OOC so hard.

Collapses are useful, yeah, but they're also a turn off, and people doing what I listed off tend to essentially create three different profiles on one page instead of focusing. One "setting" collapse is fine, but the general rule of thumb is that you don't use a collapse unless it's a good paragraph or two... and this information doesn't really need to be a paragraph or two.

Just work in that your character is available for any setting. No need for detailed paragraphs with divergent options.

You've got a good outlook on things. I'd say the best approach to ERP is to cast the net wide, harrow your catches, enjoy what you can, and keep close the ones that really mesh well with you. Personally, I got ridiculously lucky and hit it out of the ballpark with my very first partner on F-List, but I'm not so naive to assume that such is a common tale.

There'll be good scenes and bad; loyalists and flakers. Sometimes you'll have something enormously promising fall apart for whatever reason, and sometimes modest beginnings will blossom into something truly amazing. It's all part of life in the Zone, and the best thing to do is take it all in stride.

The formatting is hideous, there's an entire section dedicated to seeing how many song titles they can "incidentally" (read: "awkwardly") cram into a single paragraph as Youtube links, and the actual info sections are huge and lengthy and 99% pointless. The "History" section is two and a half pages long on my screen, and is a straight copy/paste of the History section from the character's page on the FMA wiki. I'm hitting 30 soon myself and now finally understand why almost everyone I've ever known past 35 just sits on the couch, nodding in and out of naps as they vegetate in front of a TV watching reruns after work. At some point you just run out of energy and passion for the things you used to enjoy. After awhile, you've just plain done everything the hobby has to offer. I've more or less reached that point with video games and roleplay, the latter of which I've been doing for just over 16 years, from pretty much the very beginnings of it being a thing on the net.

Upon the realization that I've slowly begun to lose all enjoyment in the many hobbies and pleasures that make me, well, me, I take solace in the fact that I have my trusty mossberg to GG out within the next year or so. Not out of depression per se, but just pure apathy, boredom, and a total lack of any actual goals or wants in life.

I'm 27 and honestly if it weren't for the fact that I'm poor and in need of meds and shit, I'd be fine with my life. The game itself is actually not half bad at all. It probably has the best combat system of any MMO I've played. It knows it's audience, though. If you want to make a male character be prepared for shitty options, with 3 entire classes locked out of the gender with no unique classes of their own to balance it out. Elins are pretty much their meal ticket, too, as all the pay-for cosmetics and such seem geared towards lolis. If you get the uncensor patch to change the aesthetics from the Muristan version back to the normal Korean version, outfits get pretty promiscuous and suggestive, especially for Elins.

Basically, good gameplay, meh story, decent visuals, no price barrier, and lolipalooza. Unfortunately there are some decidedly asian quirks when it comes to customization. No delicious brown to be found.

Interesting characterd can be pretty subjective, but I think you have at least a good core concept. Playing straight blue on F-List can be a challenge since there are so many of them. I won't comment much on layout, but there are a few examples of decent ones in thid thread. Don't do fuckhuge inlines or collapse walls and you should be fine. You could definitely benefit from more kinks, both customs and the standards. It is easy to say 'more' when you aren't the one writing the profile, but it really does help make a profile nicer. Also consider enabling the setting that puts all customs at the top. It makes it cleaner and easier on the eyes. That all said, I bookmarked you and will send you a note on my new character later.
