here's a question:
two filters, #1 horizontal and a #2 vertical.
why doesn't the first one let 45 degree light partially through, and the second one also let it partially through?
is it a filter or a polarization re-orienter?

Strangely that's what filters do,
A 45 degree orientation will block half the light, but the rest will be 'coerced' into the filter's orientation
