How can consciousness appear out of nothing without SOMETHING motivating the change?
Rabdom fluxuations where particles pop in and out of existence. Theres a chance for this to happen after yhe death of universe where Ω=1.

No it already happened before the universe started, in fact it is what started the universe.

It depends on how you define "nothing." You could argue that because things can emerge from this "nothing" that it was never really "nothing" to begin with so much as a really low content "something."
