Could a nuke destroy a storm?

I could imagine a big enough bomb disrupting the flow of a storm and even heating up the air around enough in order to take its fuel away.

Apart from possible tidal waves, would this work?
>>
No.
>>
It could work but you would need an absurdly large bomb, to the point that the bomb would do more damage than the storm would have
>>
>>9153218

Not at sea. Also, I don't think you would really need that big of a bomb to weaken the storm, which is what you want to do anyway.

Fucking burgers, they are so trigger-happy that they want to nuke a fucking hurricane. North korea is more reasonable than burgers.

"Now for a more rigorous scientific explanation of why this would not be an effective hurricane modification technique. The main difficulty with using explosives to modify hurricanes is the amount of energy required. A fully developed hurricane can release heat energy at a rate of 5 to 20x10^13 watts and converts less than 10% of the heat into the mechanical energy of the wind. The heat release is equivalent to a 10-megaton nuclear bomb exploding every 20 minutes. According to the 1993 World Almanac, the entire human race used energy at a rate of 1013 watts in 1990, a rate less than 20% of the power of a hurricane."

>A fully developed hurricane can release heat energy....equivalent to a 10-megaton nuclear bomb exploding every 20 minutes.
dang nature u scary

"In addition, an explosive, even a nuclear explosive, produces a shock wave, or pulse of high pressure, that propagates away from the site of the explosion somewhat faster than the speed of sound. Such an event doesn't raise the barometric pressure after the shock has passed because barometric pressure in the atmosphere reflects the weight of the air above the ground. For normal atmospheric pressure, there are about ten metric tons (1000 kilograms per ton) of air bearing down on each square meter of surface. In the strongest hurricanes there are nine. To change a Category 5 hurricane into a Category 2 hurricane you would have to add about a half ton of air for each square meter inside the eye, or a total of a bit more than half a billion (500,000,000) tons for a 20 km radius eye. It's difficult to envision a practical way of moving that much air around."

>bombing
it would have to be done soon after it is first deemed to be a hurricane, before it strengthens to even a cat 1. so all the bombing should be done somewhere in Africa, which is probably going to be ok

earth receives the equivalent of a tsar bomba every 10 seconds from the sun 24/7 since its formation . the energy earth receives in the taime it takes you to write an average shitpost it more then all the nukes ever detonated by humans .
a hurricane has orders of magnitude more energy then anything we con do to mechanically alter it directly .
>>
>>9153288
Hurricanes are powered by heat. You think adding more heat is really the way to go?

>Europoors are so sissy that they don't want to try nuking a storm

HAHAHAHA

>YFW IT TURNS INTO A NUCLEAR TORNADO STORM

KEK

>Could a nuke destroy a storm?
To start with, a big enough nuke could destroy earth, what are you on about?
Think a little before making questions and make it more specific, dungus
>>
>>9153347

The idea is that it disrupts the wind, which is what nukes are amazingly good at.
>>
>>9153392
>a big enough nuke could destroy the earth

found the brainlet

past 100MT the fireball would just extend into the upper atmosphere. it would do nothing. there is a reason the us didn't develop tsar bomba ++ bombs. its fucking useless. the soviets only did it because of severe autism.
>>
>>9153966

Build houses out of stone not plywood and you'll disrupt the wind pretty good.
>>
>>9153966
Have you seen a picture of a hurricane? They are rather big. I think the storm's influence on the wind slightly tops that of a nuke..
>>
>>9153993
burgers will never know.
