Since there is no charge or current in vacuum, why do electromagnetic waves exist in a vacuum?
What is generating these electromagnetic waves?
inb4 some moron spouts off about "fields"

There aren't any waves, only photons.
You're asking the wrong questions.
They are found by probability distributions that are nearly the same math of what we use to describe waves, but there is no wave.

Wait so that bullshit they taught us in elementary school about "light being both a wave and a particle" was wrong?

The way I understand it, "particle" and "wave" aren't forms of matter in themselves, but rather terms used to describe the behavior of matter at a point in time.
Every electromagnetic wave has its source (light comes from the sun, radio waves come from some antenna etc.)
These waves can survive without matter, because electric and magnetic field keep each other alive.
Their medium is space itself.
The existence can be proven directly from the Maxwell equations. It leads to some 3D wavefunction.
And you get a value for the speed of light too.
Cool shit.

Aether.
