Is card counting really this easy?
I had an assignment to create a card counter at FreeCodeCamp. It explained it to me, but having never played blackjack before, it was a little confusing for a moment. I finally made this little program, which passed FreeCodeCamp's tests. I tried to comment as best I could for people who don't know any programming. I barely do myself.
I thought card counting was something that was impossible for regular people, and that only abnormally fast minds could do it (like Rainman). But this program makes it seem very simple. Just addition or subtraction by 1 or 0 based off what the card dealer deals? I think I could do that.
I hope it's this simple because I turn 21 in September.

You have to have friends to count effectivelly.
>I turn 21 in September
and you're still on codecademy tier shit? I was at your level when I was 14, step up lad

Now try it with eight decks using only your own unassisted memory.

I just started. I got into C# and Unity in highschool but I didn't pursue it after. I'm liking web development so far though.

have you ever seen the movie 21?
you're gonna get "interrogated" by security

You just get a lifetime ban, no one gets their ass kicked anymore

That isn't card counting, shit they hand this out in casinos, the house still has the edge

14? Pshh. I was coding on microcontrollers when I was 12. Get on my level bro.

12? Meh, I was developing the theory behind quantum computation when I was 9. Git gud

You can gamble on Indian reservations under the age of 21.
Also at casinos they usually switch to a fresh deck halfway through.
Also that is not optimal. Why would you make a program to calculate a suboptimal rule of thumb that was meant to be done mentally when you could make it calculate the actual probabilities?
Please don't ever be involved in programming anything that people will use.
