I'd imagine it'd be like humans coming upon a group of monkeys. Most humans/aliens would look, say "How cute" and then never bother them again. Most couldn't care less about us. A small number may be curious and decide to do dedicated research and observations, like Jane Goodall.

With humans being contained to their little blue marble in the sky we are not a threat to anyone, nor do we have any unique resources that can't be acquired anywhere else that need to be exploited. We are utterly uninteresting and unimportant in the cosmic scheme of things.

HOWEVER, if humans begin to leave their planet and colonize other worlds, then we're no longer contained to one planet. At that point aliens would be forced have to decide, friend or foe. Can we trust this race that's growing larger and spreading across planets not to be our enemy one day in the future? We better have our shit sorted out before we leave this planet. I mean the ONLY reason we went to the moon was to prove to the Russians we have superior rocket technology and can send a nuke up their ass any time we want. Even our greatest most noble achievements are underscored with war. I don't think aliens would trust a race like that. Not sure they'd tolerate a race like that. They may judge us, while not very dangerous, still a risk that could grow larger and more dangerous with time. They may decide to end this before we become a problem for others.
The human race seriously needs to get it's shit together.
