Outsider here, is khan academy good to start learning maths and physics?
I'm a single electrician, I have a lot of free time.
I want to learn.
Khan Academy is good if you want a very interactive experience. The main downside is that it just kind of scratches the surface on most subjects. I prefer using pdfs and epubs of textbooks that are shared on sites like lainchan. Khan Academy is a great way to get your gears moving, but to oil and even replace them use textbooks and other sources. Diversify yo shit.

thanks!
Khan academy is a great start and very good for beginners or those who are struggling with a topic. However, it is not the end-all to self education. It does not offer everything you need to know to become efficient in any one subject.
>hands on experience
>practice problems
>challenges
>motivation
>full explanation or definition of a subject
By all means, use khan academy as an aid, but do not use it as a source.

Go get an apartment in North Dakota and find work with an electrical contractor out there. They're all over the place and the industry is picking up again, probably for the next 4 years at least. You'll make no less than $120,000 per year at an apprentice level. If you have a reciprocating journeyman license you're looking at closer to $200,000.
Khan academy often provides and "intuition" instead of a "proof". You better pick a good book in analysis for start, and then move anywhere you want, using khanacademy and web in general as a helping tool.
