You can buy a CRISPR kit for $160 online now, and begin modifying genes in e. Coli to make it Glow in the dark and shit. Also there's no such thing as uploading a consciousness, it's just a by product of the continuous stream of information processes in your brain (think how locked in syndrome and similar deteriorate your brain function to the point your in a vegetative state). With cancer your best bet is prevention. Alzheimer's is unlikely to be cured in the next few hundred years.
