Yes, you get energy directly from food (ultimately from the Sun). You breathe since your body needs oxygen to release energy from food.

Obviously the Sun is a finite source of energy. It uses fusion to extract energy from elements. When fuel runs out the sun is going to stop being the source of local energy.

There is an unlimited source, the problem is that it's in equilibrium and you can't harvest it. You can only move energy from where it is to where it isn't, using pressure mediation.
The sun is not unlimited, but if you consider that when it dies it will release it's energy back into the system and start a new sun at some point it time (maybe).
The funny thing is that the sun doesn't "burn" anything, we have no proof it combusts anything. The sun emits EM radiation via induction which feeds and warps out magnetic field, The suns own magnetic field and gravity causes us not to stray out of its orbit. Our magnetic field protects us from the harmful EM radiation and lets in the wavelengths that plants and ocean microbes feed off of. That creates the rest of the energy we use.
