What does it mean if you love math but hate proofs
Does it mean you're more practical? Should be an engineer? A brainlet?

No, it means you are misguided. You can't love math but hate proofs because proofs ARE mathematics. Proofs are even most of it. Just liking the statements in mathematics makes you a poser at best.

I understand that
But the majority of applications of mathematics, which are innumerable, do not rely on knowledge of the proof itself once the mathematical concepts are fully fleshed out as useful tools
You can accomplish things using math without proofs. You can create things. You can model things. How is utilization of the tool of mathematics even if you personally dislike creating mathematical tools, being a "poser"?
>>9081525
Not him, but what you have described is basically engineering.
Simply put, engineering is about using math as a tool to solve real world problems, whereas the field of mathematics views the actual mathematics an end in itself.

But that is not mathematics then. What you love is something else and I recommend you go find what that is. I once heard hookers apply mathematics to count their monthly earnings so perhaps that is what you are getting at. You go girl.

That's not actually math in and of itself, just an application of the results of math. There's a difference and most people get out of high school thinking calculations=math.
You're thinking of applied math or mathematical modeling, so yes, engineering or physics.
*You like other things, which happen to involve mathematics as a tool
It's ok anon, just don't say you like Math, and just be yourself :)

nice try undergrad, but you're wrong. how many proofs did gauss do? tell me about how newton used epsilons and deltas.
proofs are the sloppy seconds by second rate autists collecting the scraps of the geniuses asking the interesting questions and going into uncertain territory making conjectures and big ideas
OP, looking for advice here is like the blind leading the blind

Gauss did lots of proofs retard
>>9081754
Newton used careful geometric proofs I guarantee 90% of people on this board wouldn't understand. Gauss wrote a fucking ton of proofs
