Hello, /sci/, I'm not a math person, but would like to become one. I have placed into pre-calc at my college.

Could I get the quick rundown on what to expect? Is it like Calculus lite, or just more complex Algebra than what I'm used to?

Thanks

Quick Rundown?

Pre-Calc usually involves algebra, trigonometry, and limits.
>>
I didn't even take precalc in high school and placed into calc wtf is wrong with you

You learn most of "precalc" in algebra 2, anon.

You're mostly going to get a re-cap on "algebra II", but applied through functions (which doesn't really change the math much). So, you might work with linear functions, quadratic functions, polynomial functions, etc. You'll also cover trigonometry, and elementary concepts related to calculus (limits, maybe even simple differentiation). You might also lightly cover some discrete maths (probability theory, simple matrices, simple number theory, etc), solving systems of linear equations, and simple analytic geometry (particularly, analysis of conic sections).

Didn't even take that class seriously because it was mainstream and made the brainlets look worse than they are when I outperformed even the ones who studied hardest. Should've taken high school seriously, oh well.

I would kill just to start as pre-cal in college. I have to start in Algebra one again as 23 years old in the next semester.

It's Algebra 2 with a few new concepts

At least you're going back to school anon
