Are there any companies that actually give you useful genetic information? 23andme is a start, but it's pretty useless.
They'll let you download your sequence so you can check out actual worthwhile things on your own.

>23andme
They sell your DNA info to demographics people.

They actually don't give you a full sequence, only selected SNPs. But yes it is pretty useful and you can throw it into various software packages or websites to get detailed information.

Seriously?
Is there a company that does give you the full thing?
good way to fuck over yourself and your children

if you are asking about whole genome sequencing it would be too expensive

I can't see a whole genome being more than a few hundred dollars. Barely takes a day.

Ancestry is better, they give you a lot more SNP information than 23andme.
I'm not sure if there are any better alternatives, however.

have you never done a biology lab on dna?

There are a few companies now that do full genome sequencing. Google it.
The going rate right now is $999. Typically, it will be a little more than that if you really read it. That's kind of the "bargain basement" full genome sequencing.
What they're starting to do is like "$999 Plus a subscription for updates" or something.
Thing with the full genome is that it's kinda like getting a full body scan. You're 100% going to find illness. It's whether it matters. You need to have a doctor read it and none of them will do it without a doctor either.

I found a site that will do it for 4000 USD.
