You see, OP. As a molecular biologist, it also amazes me. The simplest life forms are the ones that endure the most. It is quite the example of Occam's Razor. If primitive life forms adapt so easily, why would humans evolve into the first place? We just discovered that they had eyes only a few years ago; it's not like studying them to eradicate them is top priority.
