Anyone else out there with an affinity for geology? Post interesting rock or mineral specimens. I'll start off with a few of what I have.

Cool thread OP please keep posting. As a little kid I had a rock collection and loved my gems so much. My tiger eye and geodes. Now as a jaded adult I lost interest. But man these are cool.

petrology is much more interesting

Never insinuated that. Just only posted minerals so far. Although I do like mineralogy better. Not a fan of point counting to be honest.

Might be. Job prospects, however, went down through the floor.

yes, the museum of natural science in houston has a great permanent gem and mineral exhibit, first time i went there at like 10-11 it captured my interest. going back there now as an adult and it still does such, something about perfect geometry is just amazing, they have a PERFECT pyrite cube and seeing nature made 90 degree angles is just, peaceful, dunno how to describe it.
