But that doesn't suffice to make the hairs a vector field though?
Unless the dog has hair growing on every point of its mouth, which doesn't seem to be the case in the image.
Assuming that the situation is similar for the anus, mutatis mutandis, the dog would be topologically a torus in which case the hairy ball theorem doesn't apply.
Or am I missing something here?
