Why do you insist on wasting the public's money?

NASA's budget could be going to welfare
>>
I wasn't aware that they store money in Mars rovers.
>>
>>8915211
>convince poor people that the reason their government doesn't help them is because its spending too much money on science.

good job propagating the plutocrat-oligarchy propaganda. I'm sure Hannity and Rush would be very proud.
>>

Human advancement (The only valid reason for us not to kill ourselves)

Not American but I think you will find its the Military budget that should be going to NASA and your welfare system
>>
>>8915219
>>8915232
>human advancement
>propagating the plutocrat-oligarchy propaganda
Now explain it again without using buzzwords

What tangible benefit is there in my pocket for a bunch of scientists to be playing around on Mars?
>>
>>8915211
this. save dindus please. nasa is boring af anyways
>>
>>8915241
that your grandchildren might have an option to move the if they wish so, you fucking potato

and if you really think 20 billion NASA budget is an outrageous amount of money for "playing around on mars", you might want to keep better tabs on your govt. spending, year of AC in military installations in Afghanistan during heyday of occupation costed 22 billion dollars.
>>
>>8915211
>NASA's budget could be going to welfare
It's worse than that: NASA's budget could be going to space exploration, instead of pork.
>>
>>8915258
But the military has a benefit, they keep the terrorists out of my country and keep the oil flowing

What terrorists/oil is there on Mars? None

Also, you can join the military, but you can't become an astronaut. No benefit
>>

>>8915211
Poor people spend their money on fast food, video games, and other electronics. They live directionless, unambitious lives, and will be completely forgotten 100 years after their deaths.

NASA spends its money making scientific discoveries and bettering the human race.

Nasa's budget is only 18 billion dollars, not 100 billion or more. If you distributed that amongst the poorest Americas such that their income is equal to the poorest American who did not recieve money, it would have a negligible effect. The defense budget on the other hand is 700 billion dollars and is being wasted on useless industries.

It's $18 billion/year. You could give $9,000/year (a part-time worker) to each of two million poor households, or $18,000/year (a full-time worker) to each of one million poor households.

Any of these would be a major bite out of poverty in America, a country with about a hundred million households and about two hundred million working-age adults.

First of all, the poverty line is arbitrary. People can live under it for years. Furthermore, many of those under the poverty line are dependents.

In many cases, a few thousand dollars per year can lift a whole family above the poverty line.

Studying space exploration brings about discoveries, which brings about innovation, which people all around the world benefit from. Space exploration is the frontier of research and it pushes science to its limits. Throughout a rocket mission, for example, NASA would have to figure out what material to coat the machines with so they don't disintegrate in space. That research could be beneficial to us on Earth because it may solve a crucial automobile problem, saving millions of lives. NASA has been responsible for many incredible beneficial discoveries.

Also, did u ever use a microwave oven ? Thanks NASA money.
Do u know how many poor ppl (that u care about so much) are saved every year, in the whole world, from cold by thermo-efficient blanckets ? Thanks NASA money again.
Also, when air will become unbreathable and Earth unhabitable, who will you thank that you have another option ? Poors ?

Just bc u are unaware of benefits don't mean they don't exists. I'm sure you're clever enough to google them up.

Welfare-fags have an insatiable hunger for other people's money. They will always demand more money. Why only take money from the ultra-rich when they can take it from the middle class, the dead, and even government programs they don't care about because it doesn't appeal to their short-sighted mentality. The same idiotic mentality totally devoid of the concept of delayed gratification that makes them poor is the same fucked up mentality that will make the welfare-fags clamor for the dismantling of NASA and for the money to go for 40 ouces and EBT cards with enough money to keep these fuckers in lobster until the welfare state collapses under its own largess.

Trickle down economics has failed to produce the results Regan promised. In the decades trickle down has been employed, we have seen the gap between the wealthy and the poor grow and the middle class (aka, the heart of a healthy economy) shrink.

Your notions of wealthy people passing money to less wealthy people doesnt work. Greed is too strong for that.

Then you still don't understand the point.
>>
>>8919078
If you got a reference to "trickle down" from what I posted, either my posting skills are poor or your reading skills are poor. Or possibly both.

A rich society has two relevant characteristics.

It contains some number of rich people.

It has "excess wealth" of said rich people invested in various ways -- the rich do not really keep their money on some huge Scrooge McDuck vault: that's just a cartoon. They keep it invested where it makes them more money, and coincidentally provides capital to expend old businesses or start new ones. (I've studied up on this, businesses is where a lot of jobs come from.)

As a side note, excess wealth also makes possible things like charitable giving, etc. Might have some relevance to feeding, housing, educating, etc.

It is, of course, possible to create a society where nobody accumulates more wealth than anybody else. These societies are what is known as "poor." They don't do much educating, feeding, etc.
>>
>>8919110
What you are describing IS trickle down economics. The idea is that wealthy people, if made to pay fewer taxes, will create, and invest in, companies which will employ the middle class, enriching the whole of the economy. Its a neat idea, in principle, but it hasnt worked.

However, no viable alternative has presented itself.
