Looks like I'm not getting an internship this summer either, might as well start learning to program or something.
What's a good useful language for a third year MechE student to learn?

And Ladder if you're interested in automation
Are you in mechatronic or mechanical?
If so what is the major difference between them, because I'm at the crossroads of deciding between them and I'm not sure how to proceed.

Not OP, but i think i can help
Mechanical Eng. Is about classical mechanics and materials. Mechanical engineers usually end up working in designing machine parts or working in car factories, some go to aerospacial engineering and these stuff.
Mechatronics is all about making making machines that can be controlled by programming.

No Javascript or Python?

A mechE won't be programming websites and Python is not a professional's language.
Some variation of C is what the mechE is likely to run into.
Spanish so you can communicate with your replacement
The only program factories around me use is labview. You can learn gcode too for cutters and robotics.

Really? An internship I applied for said it wanted people who knew it and a guy who I know that got an internship said the company said it was preferred, but that it was okay if he didn't know because he would learn on the job.
Of course my sample size is small, but it gave me the impression it was in demand.
