Jobs during the school year is difficult - I used to have a rule where I wouldn't work over X hours a week where X is the amount of credits I'm taking for the semester. Half that amount during exam time. Good luck.

I do university 5 hours and then work 5 hours every week day. There are many details about how I balance it out but here is the main part:

I am smart. This is the only thing. I was a born smart. You may think I am being cocky but not at all. This is the hard reality. If I was not naturally smart then university would consume my life. I study pure mathematics and the load is heavy as fuck. If I could not understand concepts the first time I read through them I would be fucked. The way I can handle my daily work load is because I understand everything taught to me in class so afterwards all that is left is that I practice for a couple of hours to refine my knowledge and do well in the next round of tests.

Oh this is true. I know it. And I also work hard but as someone who is in my own shoes I know that if I was worked as hard as I do now, but I didn't have my natural intellect, I would be fucked.

And there is a second red pill behind my success. My parents are rich. Well, not rich rich but middle class. Which means I have a lot of privileges. I sometimes think that if it weren't for their money and connections I wouldn't be as smart as I am (private school) or even have the job that I have.

Maybe I would be as smart. Maybe not. But it is also a variable. Another big unfairness in this world.

Pretty dumb. I see no value in rushing through a calculus course. So much important information you will be applying in the future and you want to rush through it? That sounds retarded. Mathematics, specially the fundamentals, aren't a speed-through contest. That is why I am never impressed when they say of an 8 year old "genius" that he "learned" all of algebra and trigonometry in a month. Sure, he learned all that in a month but so could a monkey.

Maybe monkey is an exageration but I think anyone could learn all of calculus in a month. Even the biggest retard. It is not a feat. That is because what people count as "learning all of it" is that you can pass some test of it afterwards and you don't even need to understant the concept of a limit to pass a calculus test.

Going back to the 8 year old genius. If there is something all those 8 year old geniuses have in common is that their parents were rich or academics or both. Which means that they put them, since birth, in a bullet train of learning. Via private tutors and special schools. It is no wonder that they learned all of algebra in a month or two.

Take the young Terence Tao and take away his parents, replacing them with an illiterate farmer from Pakistan and even today Terence Tao could not compute 1+1=2.

I worked 20-40 hours/week during my Bachelors (mechanical engineering). I balanced it every day by either fulfilling all my scholastic obligations or getting to bed by 1 AM, whichever came first. That guaranteed that I got a healthy amount of sleep and that I wasn't wasting time on unproductive things. As long as you're willing to put school over pleasure it's easy enough. If you need motivation just think of the interest you won't be paying on even more student loans because you worked through school instead. A;so be sure to work internships over the Summer for way more $.

I used to attend lectures before going to work. It was quite terrible with 14 hours of stuff for 5 days and just resting due to lowered energy levels for 2 days. I ended up in a burnout. Nowadays I just work and skip lectures.

Regular chemistry, you'll do ok. You'll be pressed a little for time once you start getting into real labs, but you'll not have to live in the lab like ochem guys.

As for not taking calc or AP chem, whatever, just don't be a dumbass and make your education your priority (sure, party and the like, but make sure your work is done). Use the resources the school provides if you need help.

I work 2 full days a week and need to go into uni for 2 days of 1 hour each a week. I don't go to or watch the lecturers because they go for 2 hours per unit and my lecturers repeat stuff a lot and I don't need it. I just read the lecture slides and make my own notes of them.

I utilise the other days of the week to volunteer in my field, as experience is everything to getting a job on graduation for me, socialise and study. I'm blessed with the ability to understand and recall new concepts very quickly, so I normally have to only read through certain things once. However, my field involves a lot of just basic ROTE memorisation that I do have to take time studying for. I minimise the interruptions to my life by using Anki on my phone to make flashcards I review when it suits me. I have also become a master of utilising the fact my online quizzes are open book.

Thankfully come next semester I'll be involved in a lot more prac through my uni courses and I fucking thrive with that shit.

I couldn't imagine how annoying it would be if I had to reread everything multiple times to understand it. The workload is already huge and some weeks it takes me up to 4 hours per unit for the readings.

Ive been working and going to school on and off for years, took me 6 years but i will finally get my BS this June. Basically im poor as shit and to help out my family with bills and stuff. To anyone deciding whether to get a job while going to school i suggest you eaither find a job IN your school or deliver pizza, which is what i do now. Its fucking easy, i save every check and basically use the tip money to pay for gas, expenses, bills etc.
