you don't need to know linear algebra for calculus (until multivariable calculus), and you don't need to know calculus for linear algebra (aside from basic examples of linear transformations like derivation and integration)

In fact, you'd better download some books and master that so you can get it out of the way in your HEAD and pads the class as a consequence and get to mastering calculus as soon as possible

Calculus is literally the foundation where you apply everything else and start learning real math

Maybe we're having some different ideas on what those two topics cover, but you can knock out linear algebra in months, calculus will take a bit longer, less than a year if you actually practice and continuously test yourself, better if you can bribe a teacher to push you

any linear algebra course worth its name should at least cover:

basics: vector spaces, linear transformations, bases, determinants, eigenvalues/eigenvectors, inner products, dual spaces, double dual, adjoints

key theorems: spectral theorem, cayley-hamilton, jordan form, singular value decomposition

going over all that as a first-timer would take more than few months in my opinion

i mean my lin alg course WAS super shitty. Like it was a first year (first semester, even) science/engineering course that was taught as if it was a pure math-lite course. No body knew what was going on for the entire course. I only kind of intuitively understand some things now because i've gone back and looked over the textbook/notes recently.
