Why has almost every notable man in science gone to an Ivy League University or a college that is similarly respected?
Am I a brainlet for going to an non Ivy League school?
Yes
/Thread
Plenty of notable people didn't go to some mega respected Uni. Also bear in mind that the reason those Universities are respected are because of the people that came from there, so obviously notable people come from respected unis, notable Alumni help make it respected

you can contribute to the yeoman's work of science, but you'll never be one of the greats
>why did every great scientist go to an outstanding school?
to be top of your field, you need to be exceptional in pretty much every way, making it into a top tier school is fucking trivial for this sort of person

Not if you go to MIT.

Do you go to Stanford, Berkely, Cal Tech, MIT, Duke, or UCLA?

Found the Duke graduate

Cornell, actually, but I just got accepted into a grad program at Duke.

Do you mean Duke is inferior to the other schools listed?

Biology related?
Why are people so impressed by Duke? I went there and undergrad classmates didn't impress me that much. Durham, NC is a cool place though. Doubt any of you guys ever went to Duke / have experience in Durham.

It has a good genetics program. I don't know about other fields.
<spoiler>degrees don't magically let you solve math problems</spoiler>

No, but getting into a top school means you're already good at it.
