What's a good introductory text or lecture series to get me interested in math again?
The past few years it's seemed like a useless foreign language to me, no doubt because of the half-assed american public school system, and my ever-increasing apathy towards the subject. However, recently I'm starting to see the appeal and really feel I need to build my self back up from the ground level.

I've taken a semester of university Calculus 1 and failed out of a second semester because I had clinically diagnosed depression and assessed it as my least important investment.

I have to agree with this. Need to rust up hardcore on my math to take a placement test. Originally struggled with math but it's actually made me enjoy what I've done so far.

Khan Academy also has Calc 1 and other university level courses. They're pretty good too. But I get that part of the charm of mathematics to a lot of people is the rigour and thoroughness, for that I'd recommend Spivak's Calculus. If you struggle with it definitely go over Highschool math on Khan Academy.
You might also want to check out some highschool textbooks written by famous mathematicians such as Lang, I think he has one on basic mathematics.

This isn't exactly a book but Paul's Online Math Notes help me for learning Calculus outside of class. I'd say to find a subject you're interested in and learn the math which is applied to that best; textbooks aren't too necessary when you have the internet. Furthermore, PDFs of textbooks can be found online, so use those unless you'd really prefer to have the physical book (I prefer physical for annotations).
