The Mandelbrot set looks like my scrotum, and I'm not gay, so I won't look at it. Simple as that. You want to be gay? Fine by me, but I'm not going to sin for some popular schmopular science.

Programmed a browser in C a while ago. Pretty primitive, but also pretty cool. It's a nice way to learn about optimization, parallelization and graphic interfaces, IO etc.

You shouldn't use words whose meaning you do not understand. You don't even know what optimization is, son. I do that stuff for living, and it's 90% proving theorems on paper. Nothing to do with browsers and code monkeying.
